I only had the police ask me to turn down one time, and I really wasn’t loud, but at the end of my block there was a backyard party going on.

We had 2 visits within an hour once over the amps being too loud. They weren't as cool the second time they visited but the first time, they sat outside and listened for about 10mins lmao

When he came up to me in the garage I was playing the
Gutter Shuffle.
He waited till I was done . Then said he didn’t recognize the song but was trying to figure it out, he told me I wasn’t really that loud. But they did have a complaint,, lol

Here is the beauty of this. All I need is a chair seat to put everything I need to play on. The headphone jack sounds really good!
With this setup, I have my trio going through the loop. My guitar through the front. And I have an entire band in my ears.

My DSL is like having a Ferrari in the garage and not having a license. I can start it, I can rev it, I can roll it on the driveway and back, I can even play around with all the features. I just can't open it up on the highway without getting in trouble.

But what you are doing is recording without any noise, and so you need a different method.

for the HOME USER that is -- yes -- if your a professional gigging musician by all means GET THE MESA -- if your dicking around nights and weekends at home lets be honest the JOYO is "good enough" (and you can re do the flooring in that bathroom the wifes been bitching about AND get a set a tires-- all for 2500.00 ) ....and likely 1 joyo will actually last 5-10 years anyway

That's exactly why I want a ZoMBie.

If I was still gigging/touring, and could afford it I'd have a Soldano SLO100, Peavey 5150 Block Letter, MoshALL JCM900 and a Mesa Badlander.

I currently have a JCA50 that covers the Soldano tone, a 6506mh that gets the 5150/6505 tone, a DSL1 that does the JCM thing and all I "need" now to cover all the extreme metal bases is a Recto option. Sure none of mine are as awesome as their "big brothers", but they get close enough to make me smile when I fire them up.

Since the Badlander 50 watter is like $2k and the 100 is $2500, a ZoMBie getting most of the way there is GETMO for me (Good Enough To Move On).

Hence the ZoMBie GAS.

Tangent: in Evil's defense, sure this isn't a "perfect" shootout, but from all the other vids I've watched comparing Joyos to "real" amps, he output the same thing as everyone else: they sound close, but somewhat limited. Good job Evil! Thanks for putting this together.

no tubes to bias, worry about stress over ,,, buy ever
no cab needed (has 100's)
no mic needed-- has dozens
no effects pedal chain needed --(has 100's)
stuck with 1 head and 1 head only ? -- NOT with a processor you have 100's to choose from
no attenuator needed.... ever
and can record direct out .....


yes those sound great ......... but the practical option for variety form function and great tone on a budget .... and in a home environment
even the most expensive of these is less than mesa dual rec.

also -- you can run into powered studio monitors for amazing clarity and stereo sound you dont get from this


unless you get another cab and more gear and .....and..... and....... you still cant turn it up

-- a further argument can be made for -- (wait for it)----- if you are CRANKING the head till it glows ...... but attenuating the signal...... then your not "moving air" your not driving the speaker and your not hearing the head and the speakers working in their full glory anyways ......... till you truly crank it .... un attenuated .... and Johnny Law visits
-- but with the processors ... or say a Kemper--they take that into account ...and adjust the parameters to give you that tone but at a livable volume

more computing power at your fingertips than put men on the moon.........

Yes, those of us playing at home have to be respectful of wives, neighbors, and pets. You can't just say, "F@#k it! I'm gonna crank this thing as loud as I want". That's why I am familiar with loop volume pots, attenuators, and SPL meters. I play in a basement and keep the volume down to 95 dB (at 6 ft.). I also don't buy any amps >50W.

There is SOMEWHAT of a compromise: use an attenuator. Its not gonna let you play at bedroom levels exactly, but it can reduce the sheer bombast while cranking the power tubes. Not overpowered loud but not exactly quiet either

I found the same thing after getting one. Yes, you can get that amazing cranked tone without having your head explode, but if you try to turn it down to TV volume it sounds like , even with a very good attenuator.

We had a 1973 Turd Brown Pinto 4 cyl when i was 3. I remember it vividly despite the age because we were driving thru town one day and people were honking their horns and waving manically at us. Dad thought they were just being friendly and waved back. Then right as we got to C&O Cleaners, WHOOSH!! Flames erupted over the hood of the car. Dad parked it, we bailed out and i remember screaming for my blanket that was still inside. Fire Department showed up super quick and one of them actually reached inside and grabbed it for me.

A fuel line had broke at the carburetor and sprayed gas all over the engine and the people honking and waving seconds before were trying to get our attention because the flames were coming out of the front fenders like in a cool action movie lol. The car actually survived by the fire department spraying it down, but the electrical lines and hoses were cooked. Dad had it towed to my grandpas and over a week or so, they got it back up and running. Paint was kinda jacked up on the hood.

We were broke trash man lol

I can sort of relate, we had a used brown Chevette. I guess my old man misheard me when I said it would be cool to have a Chevelle!
