All the electronics and hardware that was on it before, are going back in. The pickups are stock for the '02 Faded Special, and I believe they are the 490R and 490T. And yes, I likes dem! What pickups are you gonna float in that pick guard?
The color is pretty cool. Just not sure what it all is going to look like with the Tru-Oil finish. One more day of polishing the stained wood, and then I'll begin applying the oil. That's about one week of applying multi coats of oil, and then another week for it to "dry". Then some final polishing and waxing, and reassembly. So it'll be awhile...I like the color choice, man. Look'n good.

I've used Tru-Oil over dye, once before. I bought a PGK SG junior kit, a couple years ago. I used grain filler, StewMac's cherry red liquid stain, and Tru-Oil. Came out pretty nice. This is why I'm repeating this refinish process with this current project. In the end, it's not going to be as blingy as a super gloss finish. I love a well done gloss finish. But the feel and look of a Tru-Oil finish on a guitar is pure nirvana.I like using tru-oil over bare guitar wood, but I've never used it over dye. We'll know here soon how it works when your done and here's hoping it turns out sweet look'n.

Yeah, that was a big oops! Live and learn!...and the double sided version too!
Nah! I thought it was a really cool concept. Still, the single sided battle axe was really cool, and easy on the eye in those colors.Yeah, that was a big oops! Live and learn!

It's going thru the "one coat of oil per day" phase. Today will be oil-coat #6. Probably do at least 8 coats. After the final coat, I'll let the guitar's finish cure for a full week. Then some delicate final polishing, hand buffing, and gunstock wax, before all the hardware and electronics go back in.Hows this project comming along Sysco ????
