Major Facelift for my '02 SG Special Faded

I like the color choice, man. Look'n good.
The color is pretty cool. Just not sure what it all is going to look like with the Tru-Oil finish. One more day of polishing the stained wood, and then I'll begin applying the oil. That's about one week of applying multi coats of oil, and then another week for it to "dry". Then some final polishing and waxing, and reassembly. So it'll be awhile...

I like using tru-oil over bare guitar wood, but I've never used it over dye. We'll know here soon how it works when your done and here's hoping it turns out sweet look'n.

I've used Tru-Oil over dye, once before. I bought a PGK SG junior kit, a couple years ago. I used grain filler, StewMac's cherry red liquid stain, and Tru-Oil. Came out pretty nice. This is why I'm repeating this refinish process with this current project. In the end, it's not going to be as blingy as a super gloss finish. I love a well done gloss finish. But the feel and look of a Tru-Oil finish on a guitar is pure nirvana.

Here's my Norton (PGK SG Jr.) with a Kinman P90:

Nice looking guitar, man. Basic, to the bones, sweet...

The Norton looks great, I really like those old-style white button on a 'special'.

&, that green monster (kinda like the Gibson Inverness Green?) is gonna be a special one of a kind with the moon inlaws.

Thanks! It plays and feels extremely well. With that Kinman P90, coupled with the lively resonance of the guitar, it sounds better than I would have imagined.

The tuners are the Kluson Deluxe:

Hows this project comming along Sysco ????
It's going thru the "one coat of oil per day" phase. Today will be oil-coat #6. Probably do at least 8 coats. After the final coat, I'll let the guitar's finish cure for a full week. Then some delicate final polishing, hand buffing, and gunstock wax, before all the hardware and electronics go back in.

I got a custom TRC on order, that probably won't arrive for at least a month.

I also ordered an 8 ounce can of StewMac's conductive shielding paint. That should arrive this week.

These following 2 pics taken a few minutes ago:

I stopped at the 10th coat of Tru-Oil, which was 6 days ago. In a couple days, I'll start final polishing and buffing. Then finish the finish with gunstock wax.

Meanwhile, while the guitar was hanging around to let the Tru-Oil dry, I cleaned up the fretboard again by dressing up the fret ends with a StewMac Fret End Dressing File exactly like this one:
The results were very nice after I followed the filing with some hardcore #0000 steel wool scrubbing and some F-One fretboard oil:

I also painted the control cavity with black conductive shielding paint... 3 coats at 1 per day:

Getting some fresh air:

The shielding paint came in an 8 ounce can. I can do at least 25 guitars with what's left over. I think I'll take a cue from @Goldmember, who likes to paint your Yoohoo gold, and advertise: "May I paint your cavity black?"
