LP Tribute refinish, take 2...

I like it, man!
Be nice to see more grain but it's a unique finish. Black hardware, done.

I'm convinced the grain isn't going to show no matter what I do, It didn't show in the original finish from Gibson, and it didn't really show much even when I just clear coated it natural.

I have a couple of ideas brewing in my brain about how to fix the couple of issues I have with where it is right now. I like the color and I like the rough look, but there are a couple of areas that need some attention.

I'll be living up to my ambassador name again, this is going to be a "hold my beer!" kind of thing, lol. If it works I win, if not I can always sand it down and start over.

It looks great Steve. I actually liked the original finish. But being the perfectionist that you are, I respect that.
What bugged me most about it is the black around the edges wasn't even. It stuck out like a sore thumb every time I looked at it and I just woke up one Saturday morning and said it's got to go and before I gave it a second thought I had sanded the whole top down. Take a close look at that pic again and you can see what I'm talking about, it was worse in real life.

I've been busy this evening making a mess. I got the stain on, it's not exactly what I was going for, but I think it's going to be better than it was. I started with yellow and then added brown araound the edges and worked my way in trying to get a burst, the yellow seems to have washed out, but it might come back some with the oil, I don't know. The binding came out better, but it's rough. This is after stain and dry. I'm afraid if I keep messing with it I'm going to f'k it up...
