Let's Talk About Picks!

As I said the other week, I got 3 packs of Dava's. They came assorted colors.

Glad you guys made this thread and kept it going regarding the Dava's and of course other picks.
As I was writing this last night, I reviewed my Musician's friend order and realized my order called for 4 packs not 3.
It was too late to call them after realizing, so I called Saturday around 8:30 Pacific Time and the nice agent processed to send me the missing pack. It was only $5 and some change but still, I almost didn't remember they shorted me.

MItch, here is my post 168 for some interesting reading on Moshay.

OK back on track, Much like I wound up with the one Clayton Pick, I once had a LARGE Moshay pick that had a hole in it.
I would buy them in a heartbeat for 3 reasons. One being the size available, 2, the hole, 3 the feel.

Chubs, This is partly true I guess. Ya see, I got a 6 pack in assorted colors of the Grip Tip "Delrin." My one Pack I opened has a Yellow, White, Blue, Red, Green, Magenta and the Musician's friend ad says Medium.

I guess this is why when Smitty said he likes the yellow ones it confused me. In my package, all the colors are the same medium Deldrin picks, just 6 different colors per pack. Although when I look at Musician's friend, they do have some Medium Yellow NYLON 6 packs in Jazz or Control Grip Medium packages.

Well, I guess I made the assumption the color coordinated with a thickness.

My bad.

I still like the yellow.

I suppose I might try a different material just to see what it‘s like. But, my guess is even the different material should lend a different type of attack and flexibility.

Either way, Dava is still my favorite.

I'm gonna have to try some of those Dava's. They look pretty interesting.

I really like them. For starters, the textured rubber grip keeps the pick from slipping better than other picks I’ve tried.

Also, you can rotate the pick so you strike the strings with the soft rubber grip. This really softens the attack on the strings for those songs or passages where you want a slightly softer sound. It’s almost like finger picking with your fingertips....it’s not exactly the same...but you get the idea.

I really have gotten to prefer the yellow Davas. I grab a pack nearly every time I’m in the guitar store.

Smitty, did you get Delrin or Nylon yellow ones? I am very happy with my Delrin ones, and even now happy with my D'addario, Fender, Planet Waves standard Tortoise type picks that I drill holes in.

I have the Yellow Grip-Tip Nylon picks.

(The the bright yellow, almost chartreuse color, also makes them more visible, so I don’t lose them as easily!)

I personally dislike celluloid picks because they wear out fast and break really easily.

Dang Smitty, I have never broken or worn out a pick of any type.

So you got the Nylon, I should get some Nylon ones next time and also would like to try the Rock Grip ones.
BUT I seriously doubt I will need picks any time soon. Last year I got 100 D'addarios, now in Sept I got 72 Clayton Triangle Delrin picks and 24 Dava Grip Tips so I think I should be set for a good while.

Oh and while someone mentioned Pick holders earlier in the thread, I have taken to using those spring loaded clamshell type eyeglass holders. I also have a tin type container that housed some of those Iphone type screen protectors. It has a slide on lid that seals the picks inside and it is a nice slim design.

Yeah, I keep my picks in old pill bottles!

I used to wear out the black nylon Dunlops. The delrin (tortex) doesn't seem to wear at all. The other Davas seem ok as well. I've built a Dava collection, but my pick tin is almost overflowing. I'll head to Michaels crafts. They have small "tin" boxes for under 3.00. A 6 inch tin should last a lifetime.

I must have missed your post earlier in the thread.
Sometimes my internet is worthless

Mitch, there is no excuse needed. Heck, there is so much content and fluff mixed in here, it is easy to miss stuff throughout the thousands of posts. I understand this, that is why I re hashed the post to be seen. I sure wish I could remember where I put that lone pick as I really did like it too.
