Let's see your daily ride...

Thread name is dubious, not sure if I should post a pic of her.... :pound-hand:

Technically my ride, though I leave her to the misses...

Not much of a two-wheeler... flame away...

Does 45km/h on paper, does a fair deal more in practice, ahum. 50cc, 2-stroke, air cooled. Simple, cheap and easy to keep running, fairly comfortable. Bought her just before the shop closed, 50km away from home, in the icy cold rain of winter. After doing the paperwork and leaving, I discovered that the lights would randomly cut out, as would the engine. The front wheel bearings were FUBAR, the brake disc was done for (I'd seen that, but it felt worse than it looked). A large part of the way had no street lighting, plus the sleet and rain were making it hard to see anything. The battery was knackered and the kickstarter was on its last legs. The indicator switch wasn't really working and the carb was set badly. Managed to get home over the course of about an hour and half, at which point I was soaked to the skin and shaking from the cold. Fortunately, I didn't encounter any police except one cop car driving past while I was fixing a short caused by wires dangling above the engine in the semi-dark. That would certainly have cost me my license. The owner of the shop sold it as "street legal"... Fixed her up, put in a new piston, cylinder, clutch, drive belt, CVD, front wheel, brake disc and pads (rear is a drum brake), battery, brake lever, indicator switch and kickstart mechanism.

Together with my 4-wheeler. Together, the French Fleet... (note the entirely new front wheel et al)

While I can appreciate beautiful cars I'm not in a position currently where I can afford to have a fun or exciting ride. I have to drive 40 kilometers to work everyday (that's quite a bit by european standards), so I need a ride that is reliable and safe.
I pay the price for living in a place where I can shamelessly crank my Amps 24/7.
I am emotionally attached to some of my Instruments. THIS is just a tool.

Yep, same. My next car will likely be an ugly type of minivan or something of the kind. No street cred, plenty of space for moving gear, drums, etc, etc.
As long as it's not an electric, it's cool!
Well, that one is a Hybrid actually. Otherwise it would have been difficult to get a car with enough power to pull a trailer that is not some (even more expensive) mercedes or BMW. I wasn't too thrilled about that first, but I have become accustomed to it. I just use regular fuel, there is no need to charge the electric motor. It regenerates under braking and gives back a bit of torque when accelerating. It was expensive, but I need something to pull my 1300 kg trailer.

I'm not an expert on cars, but if I'm thinking "needs to pull heavy weight" and "mustn't entirely break the bank", my first hunch would have been "Toyota"... no idea if that actually always holds true. I've thought about getting a trailer for the car, but I'd need to do an extra license and I came to the conclusion that right now, it's probably easier and cheaper to just get something bigger and skip the trailer. I believe I'm allowed to drive things up to 3.5t. Can't deny, a trailer would be very handy sometimes, though!

Yeah, having just about ANY car like that is quite a status symbol here because of the taxes and petrol prices. If you ever want to know what sex at the petrol station feels like, come to Western Europe and fill a car up. You'll feel what I mean when you pay.

The German used Car market is just ridiculous. And Toyota Utility Cars are relatively rare here I think. Low mileage is high on my priotity list, as I rack up a lot of Km just because of my daily commute. Most of the time, car purchases are a gamble anyway. New Cars turn out to be duds, while some old cars just run and run.
BTW, almost everybody I know has had a Peugeot 206 like yours once. Really amazing car and one of the reasons why I drive a bigger and more modern peugeot now.

Makes sense. I don't rack up a lot of km at all. I fill her up every month or two.

Thanks! :) They're simple enough, cheap, reliable and easy/cheap to fix when the time comes. I certainly like my 206, the only thing is that I have a 1.4L engine and thus only the 5 speed transmission. Apart from that I have zero complaints, hehe. The misses drives a Renault so I have all the tools for both (mainly lots of large/long torx drivers/bits). To be honest, I'd be tempted to go with a Peugeot next round, and it would likely be something in the same vein as what you have.
