Just listened to this album for the first time in my entire life...

I actually did a water color recreation of that cover for an art project------ in MIDDLE SCHOOL-------

whiel listening to the album --- over -- and over -- and over-----

Funny I seem to recall from other information -- Peter was older-- and HAD a career as a drummer PRIOR to KISS--

Criss was born in Brooklyn, New York, the oldest of five children of Loretta and Joseph Criscuola. His father's family came from Scafati, Salerno, Italy. He grew up in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn.[2][3] He was a childhood friend of Jerry Nolan, who would later find success as the drummer of the New York Dolls.[4]

Criss was an avid art student and a swing aficionado.[5] While playing with bandleader Joey Greco, Criss ended up studying under his idol, Gene Krupa, at the Metropole Club in New York.[6] This turned into an active musical career as he went on to play jazz and rock with a number of bands in New York and New Jersey throughout the 1960s.[citation needed]

While Gene was TEACHING High School and Paul was -- a Cab driver I believe.???........that whole video just sounds like sour grapes to me --

Yeah, I have never listened to anything by them.

They seem like the guitar band version of WWE (something else I don't watch). &, I just find that fella with the big tongue so completely offensive and repulsive.

Welcome --- we missed you
New recruit to the KISS ARMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't go THAT far!

Not even technically a fan, but I’m struck by how mild a lot of these songs sound. Sure, they’re rock, and all, but not as aggressive as I might have expected.

very Proco Harum ish-----

the drumming isnt steller -- but I doubt he CANT play

And further more --- IF he was that bad a drummer -- in NYC in the 70's -- why didnt they just get a different one???????? IF they hired someone that BAD -- then its Paul and Genes fault ---

if you employ a monkey to write a sonnet--- and it sucks-- whos at fault the monkey or the employer?

Kiss f’ing rules. There is no music made after Kiss that wasn’t in some way influenced by them. They were a phenomenon, and one of the seminal bands of the ‘70’s. I literally would not be the person I am today without them.

That’s the way I look at it, too.

Although I can’t say I’m a Kiss fan, I do take an odd interest in learning about the group.

From comparing Peter Criss’s earlier drumming to his performances after they got back together after the unmasked era, it strikes me that his drumming declined.

Just from the videos I’ve seen, I personally prefer Kiss’s work during the unmasked era when they had Bruce Kulick and Eric Carr. But, I admit I did sort of like the hair metal era and the unmasked Kiss sound aligns more closely with that sound.

Im not saying Criss was a GOD -- or Neil Peart or something-- and yes him and Ace both had drug and substance issues-- which we all know effects playing quality--
but the video above--- IMHO reflects worse on Paul -- for HIRING such an untalented "loser"
