John Hobbs AKA Biddlin

I've embraced it now. There's nothing to be gained by me whinging about it, and to be honest, it's now part of who I am.
Yes, I miss being able to play sports, run around etc, but there's plenty of other things that I can still do.
I think the most sucky part was when I got knocked off my motorcycle back in 2017 and broke the right ankle in 2 places... That was fun while on crutches, trying to support my weight on an ankle that was as unstable as the one I'd just broken! :D

Welcome back, as I have notice you here for more visits, Alex. I totally knew about your ankle and struggle, but missed the other leg cycle accident, crutches fiasco. Sure glad you are somewhat better, AND you made it alive after the bike accident.

Yeah, that was fun, Brother... Riding home from work just before Christmas 2017. I'm in the "slow lane" just taking it easy.
Some dude in a pimped out Toyota LandCruiser with all the gizmos and a stereo so loud you could hear it from a couple of miles away decides he needs to turn from the wrong lane. No signal, just pulls straight out in front of me and turns, I hit his rear wheel and come off, he continues on his merry way.
Bike was OK, but I went over the handlebars, landed ON MY FEET and snapped 2 bones in my right ankle on impact.
Driver kept going, but luckily a guy behind stopped and assisted me.
I rode the bike home, not realising how much damage there was, and ended up in the ER.
Unfortunately no one got the drivers number plate to report him to the police, so no charges were laid.
The cops asked me why I didn't remember his plate number, and I basically said because I was trying to avoid being embedded in his tailgate!
@iblive probably remembers this...

Yes I do Alex. We’ve been chatting back and forth for a few years now.

Edit: I’m sorry officer. As I had recently become detached from my motorbike I was more concerned about looking for a place to land and I was having a difficult time extracting a pad of paper and a pen from my pocket.

My ankle is extremely unstable and riddled with arthritis now unfortunately.
I wear a support brace at work, and have to wear a thermal sock when sleeping or the arthritis plays up.
Unfortunately after the 3rd surgery, the surgeon warned me that my ankle was never going to recover to what it was, and I’d be lucky to have 70% functioning.
It’s just on 70%, and I’m having to take some strong pain killers daily so the pain doesn’t get too much.
I can no longer run, and use a stick when I have to walk too far or if I’m on unstable ground…
Other than that, I’m doing ok.
Looking forward to retirement in about 10 years!
I hope everyone else is still well?
@chilli, I’m sorry you have hurt your ankle too bro… I know exactly how it feels, but please, at least wear a support brace so you don’t damage it any more than it is, and try staying off it when you can…

Thank you, Alex.

As it is, I am walking about 1/100 mph so as to not stumble. When I do go back to trying to work, I will be putting my feet in boots with laced up upper to stiffen up support of my ankle. I should be good to go as the next couple weeks go by. Today the pain was less. Yesterday I actually took a couple Tylenols.

Hoping to get re-started on the Step daughter's bathroom tomorrow or the next day. Thankfully, cutting and sweating pipes is not too strenuous a job.
