I've been banned from the Marshall Forum...

I replied. Cross has always been good to me. I have nothing against him...except for when he was screwing with me pretending to be AI at such a time.

I guess you could say that I was raised with the Henry Ford school of thought, in that you "never complain, never explain". Another common way of putting it, is that I'm someone who tends to keep things close to the vest. I'm open and I share, but I don't overshare (if that makes sense). Just kind of an old-school approach.

Well, it's been brought to my attention that there are some people here who suspect that something is going on with me recently, and while it's not in my nature to delve into my personal life, given the length of time I've been here, the many friends I've made / have, and my role as moderator for so many years, I'm going to make an exception, as I think you guys deserve to know.

To start with, no, I am not taking anti-depressants (nor have I ever) causing me a chemical imbalance, nor have I been replaced with an AI robot. This is me talking, and doing so with a clear mind.

Here's the deal ... yes, I'm a bit stressed, and I've been stressed for a few weeks now. In the days leading up to the forum software changes, I found myself dealing with a new found cancer scare, and yes, it's scaring the hell out of me. I have an 8 year old daughter who I've been raising by myself since she was 6 months old, and I'm terribly afraid of not being here for her. Facing real questions about your own mortality is not an easy thing to get your mind wrapped around.

A couple of days after that revelation, and in the midst of questioning said mortality, I had a falling out with a dear friend of many-many years from here on the forum, after he made reference to "half-breeds". While I do not believe it was said w/the intent of taking a shot at my daughter, the fact remains that my daughter is in fact mixed race, and despite years of friendship, it caused me to view the friendship in a very different light. This is a guy I would have given an internal organ to, so to learn that he views mixed race kids as "less than", well, it just jabbed a butcher knife into my heart. She's all I have. My only real family left. I have her and I have you guys. That's it.

Now this: another forum software change that, having been through this before, and seeing it play out the very same way (really, it's uncanny), makes me realize that the loss of even more friends has likely arrived yet again. I know what's going on with "recruiting" behind the scenes ... nobody is being fooled here (nor are you being censored / banned for it fwiw). It's heartbreaking. Yes, more people will join the forum and replace those who leave just as happened before, but losing a friend is still losing a friend.

So yeah, it's a lot to take into account in a matter of weeks ... and if you are still wondering why I'm trying to remain positive and put on a happy face ... well, what's my alternative given the situation? I have my life / health, I have my daughter, and I have you guys. I love all 3 and don't want to lose any of it, so I'm going to remain positive (whether you like it or not).

Oh, and @Ken Underwood was never banned. Not for 1 second. What did happen, was that Ken happened to post in a thread that was removed (along with a few others), and one of our members spun that into a molotov cocktail to throw at the forum on his way out the door (some of you have bought into this "Ken was banned!" narrative, so I'm clearing the air once and for all). The only 2 people who were "banned" were @fitz & @Timo V, and the only reason it happened was to give the both of them some time to cool down, as we didn't want the new owners to take things out of context and ban them for good. They don't know you guys like we do, and if we have the ability to protect someone, we are going to exercise that, and sometimes that might not make sense on the surface.

For those of you who have opted to leave, well, while I hate to see it, you'll nevertheless be treated with respect, and I can tell you with 100% certainty, that none of you will ever return to the forum to find a disparaging word said about you (of course, that probably opens me up to charges of fascist censoring lol), and should you want to come back, the door will remain open as always.

No I didn’t get any notifications about anything, and I have used the same password for here MLP, and the MF had never had any problems, until now.
 
They did the same “password reset” thing over at ETSG prior to their forum software “update”. Same flavor of forum software, by the look of things. It definitely takes some getting used to, but it is navigable once used to it. Admin over there appears quiet, and hands off…but if things get scrubbed regularly, it would never show anyway. Once things get “gone” though, there would be no evidence…apart from memory.

There are those of us who have been around the forii, regardless of the names they go by...for (internet) ages now.
Many probably remember the musiciansroadhouse, gainjunkies, etc....

The core group of bros was always around.

We don't need no stinkin' MF, and we've already all proven it.

Still....RiP MF lol

I'm glad to see you all here.

I remember the Musicians Roadhouse from when it was the Marshall Roadhouse. That was back when Surf (AKA Nuke on MF) owned it before he sold it to Blues&cues (<not his right name but I forget how he spelled it) and it became the Musicians Roadhouse. That's where I met crossroadsnyc (AffectionatelyKA Cross) before I joined the Marshall forum and long before he was a mod there. It was one of the first forums I ever joined.

Nuke is actually not far from me....

That place the most complete library of Marshall schematics I've come across yet...it was a shame when it went south
