Well boys & girls, if you remember in our last episode we had a headstock that snapped like a twig.

So I headed out to the swamp compound about 6:30 this am.
Best time of the day, still cool (80's) and just getting light out.
Didn't have much of a problem getting glue on both sides of the break.
I used a paintbrush to spread an even film. Worked great.
Then clamped that sucker.

I used three clamps and blocks top & bottom to spread the load.

It fit real nice.
Left it clamped for about 4 hours and took a peek...
Not too bad after I cleaned up the glue squeeze out.

But we're just getting started.
Saying that it had some unevenness in the headstock veneer would be putting it mildly.
This is where I wish I wasn't out of black cyano glue.
I blocked sanded the veneer with 320 grit and used clear cyano and accelerator to fill the voids.

What????

Yep, then it's time to scrape.

And fill some more.

And scrape some more...

Then the magic starts to happen. After a hit with 600 grit to smooth things out, I dust in some black from the middle tuner holes to the nut...

And knock it back with 600 grit.
But I've attached as many files as permitted for this post so please follow me to the next page...
