Incoming! NGD

Update:
Friday the Musiclily Pro Series 3x3 vintage green key style tuners arrived but have 9mm bushings; the 10mm adapter bushings I got from Amazon.
The pik is heavy-ish like I like.
Thanks Jerry and Nina!

I slightly reamed the rims of the holes so the bushings would start straight.
No wood was removed only the poly finish that got around them.
I used the water pump pliers as a press; see the strips of wood-like material taped to the jaws.

I did one to make sure this was viable

Rinse and repeat

I did manage to use the same strings as they were only on about 2 weeks.

Thought I took a shot from the rear; will update.
These tuners work very well with smooth operation and little gear lash, and are smooth turning at a fairly fine gear ratio.
Dont recall the gear ratio but it is probably 14-15:1.

Success!!
The neck dive is Greatly Reduced to a little creep, but the guitar is now very playable and we have become fast friends.

"Think you're kinda neat then she tells me I'm a creep"
I need to re-visit some Stone Temple Pilots.

I have something special in the works related to this; I will update soon.

EDIT: This is a really cool photo. Wish I knew how to get it as a smallish poster size.

Nice work!

Grovers are terrible for neck dive. Glad you ditched them. They are fine on my Explorer but that is a heavy body guitar. I kept Grovers on one of my SGs but replaced the buttons with acrylics to stop the neck dive.

I'll be honest: the one thing I don't like about this guitar is the black hardware. I'd fit nickel or chrome hardware and change the knobs to something more Gibson looking, like reflectors.
