Update:
I hung a baggie with some .38 spl wadcutter bullets in it (i used to reload) and hung it around the strap at the rear like a ballsack.
Big improvement. I'm guessing about between 1- 1 1/2 lbs. I can stuff the cavity with some wrapped in painter's tape if need be.

I ordered a set of Musiclilly green key style tuners and adapter bushings.
Comparing the weight of smilar green keys and Grovers, this should trim about 6oz. from the headstock.
Looking at the balance of a lever, I believe this weight reduction at the headstock (at a significant distance from the lever fulcrum) will make a big difference.
I played it tonight and just love it.

I tuned down a step and a half to C# and was banging out some Into the Void.
*big ss-stupid grin*

GOOD ON YA-- just had that same BIG A** stuoid grin after I finished banign out hte bass lines to EVERYTHING IS BROKEN---

I'm the guy who wishes for a private soundproof room so I can sound bad by myself, and conversely sound good by myself LOUD enough to enjoy trying various guitars by myself.

Now drums, I don't mind people around, because drums are made to go crazy on them.

This has been my solution to neck dive.

I'd be inclined to try this in the cavity instead of hanging things off the guitar.
