In these times of isolation

Traffic has picked up a little here but it is still pretty sparse. I go to Vancouver twice a month to get my eyes checked after some surgery in January. It used to take me two hours, one to get to Vancouver, and one to get to Vancouver General Hospital. Now it takes 45 minutes to get to Vancouver and a half hour across town to VGH.

I've actually been getting healthier while isolated!

I've been paying close attention to my diet - minimizing snack foods (like chips, etc), minimizing processed foods (especially meat), maximizing vegetables, drinking plenty of water, eliminating soft drinks and sugary foods, and I've been getting in some good cardio on the elliptical machine four or five days a week. I work out at my target heart rate for about 30 minutes each session. The next thing is to add a little strength conditioning into the mix.

I've actually lost a few pounds, dropped my blood pressure (which wasn't bad to begin with), reduced my heart rate, and improved my quality of sleep. I'm actually feeling really good, physically.

I've been picking the slack for you Smitty. I've been guzzling diet cokes, munching on chips and dip and excising my thumb on the remote control several hours a day. This workout has me taking naps throughout the day in my recliner until it's time to walk into the bedroom and get a good night's sleep

This is a song that I thought was very fitting for this thread. This isolation can be hard for many, this is a song that was written and sang here by the Rankin Family, who are a Canadian group that is well known. I find their music heartfelt, The one Sister died a few years back now, sadly.. The song is encouraging and portrays hope .
