I traded off one of the best guitars I've ever owned!

Was talking lever guns with my bandmates the other day..my other guitarist said he had an old Winchester.....with some sort of octagon barrel or something, he didn't know much about it.

Well that piqued my interest!

I looked it over, mechanically it's new!
Someone painted one side with lacquer and made it into a wallhanger......

Turns out it's a 1967 Canadian centennial model.
Winchester made around 100k of these in 26 inch octagon barrels.
There is a very small number of them with 20" barrels which this is.

Anyhow, I know that I lost money in the trade, but value is in the eye of the beholder....

He is just smitten with his new Les Paul. (My Vintage Mahogany with a blackened black winter.) Thing is an absolute player!

Here are a few before pics:

It's not a Marlin, but I like the old rattle trap Winnie's too!

I never owned a "thutty thutty" but have fired one and thought it
was quite do-able. I also think it's a good trade, even though your Les Paul
sounds like quite a prize. I like lever guns too.

I sold most of my gun collection along with so much else back in 2019
trying to raise money for my wife of that time's battle with cancer.
We did raise a lot of money, and luckily didn't get hit with big bills.
She lost her battle in 2020 as I've certainly written about before.

I ended up in Tucson on my own. I had only kept a couple weapons with me
one of which was my Ruger New Model Blackhawk in .357 Magnum
which I couldn't bear to part with. I always liked the idea of a single action
pistol with a lever action rifle in the same caliber. So I bought a .357 rifle made
by Henry. I've become quite fond of it, and with the pair of them.

The Henry is well made and shoots nice groups at 50 yards. I haven't tried it a 100 yet, but will do so this spring when the weather permits.
Recoil is negligible, which feels good to my auld bones. I mounted a 1.5-6 power scope. Some guys don't approve of a scope on a
lever gun, but they can pound sand. *grins I like to hit the target.

Having a combination like this was a 19th century notion, especially good if a guy had to get all his belongings on one horse (or two if he
was well off). I think it's still a good notion here in the 21st century. This cowboy rig is a bit of an anomaly in Northern Michigan where I live
now, and in Tucson when I went to the range with these weapons, it seemed like everybody was shooting AR-15s and 9mm autopistols.
*shrugs. Not me. I never was up with trends much.
