No. It’s not an amp.
I used the US spec original Electrosocket and fitted a Switchcraft jack to his MIJ Telecaster as the original jack was in bad shape. Removing the funny clip gives the added benefit of being able to simply remove the two Electrosocket screws and service the jack if needed in the future. Normally with the clip in place you have to remove the control panel and take the jack out that way, after disassembling the jack cup on the outside. It pulls out with needle nose pliers and makes a satisfying noise when it hits the rubbish bin

The first video is much more useful but the second one does show how the clip is in there. Best thing is just to pull it straight out and use a nice Switchcraft jack and the StewMac socket
