Congrats on your purchase of that fine guitar Mr Grumpy, & yes, of course you should have bought it. Actually, I voted for the red one based on what I like, but that's neither here nor there, is it. Yeah, it'll be good; I'll live in the same area as my parents and brother's family (close to Cambridge) - I visited England a few months ago for a week and really enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to going back full time, just trying to get a business arranged and up and running; products, finances, employees, funding, offices, etc...
It's a pretty complex research area, hence why I've not been posting much - sorting out funding from government agencies and corporation research funds, etc, is quite a process.

The wife will like it; in 18 years, she has never been to England/Europe. All areas of the world are interesting, but I always especially enjoy my time in Europe.

Ah, sounds interesting! I was under the impression your field was linguistics? I guess that would be applicable when it comes to making anything work like a brain.
Good that she's positive about the move! When I get old (and in my dreams, rich!), I want a summer house in the south of England.

Yeah, I went from cognitive linguistics into neuro-linguistics and then neurobiology generally. My first degree was in electronic engineering many years ago, so I did make circuits and stuff once upon a time - trying to link all these areas together now; I think I'm a bit ahead of the field and wanna be a millionaire before I'm 50, so I'm putting my foot to the floor workwise.
The wife loves seasons, so she'll like the UK. With you in Bergen, it's such a nice place, why do you need a home in England - it's full of those bloody English people. My parents live in Buntingford, and around that area are lots of old, small market towns with great pubs, food, friendly people. I had such a great week there a few months back. some beer and food pics:
England has a reputation for bad food and beer, but I loved it - the best holiday/break I've had in a decade or more.

Those pics pretty much sum up why I would like a place in England! I love British beer and traditional food. I like the English countryside, and I love London. I haven't had a pint of Bass in years, but a good pint of cask bitter is my favorite thing to drink in the whole world. I met the head brewer from St. Austell a few years back, by the way. Lovely fellow.
Bergen is great, and I would never want to move anywhere else permanently. But it just rains a whole lot. I know England isn't exactly known for its extremely dry climate, but it's better than here, anyway.
