YEs....well really no but basically

Get a bottom feader Affinity Squire Jazz bass......take it apart

Change the pick guard.......get a TALENTED friend (@Hackmaster ) to defret the neck (buy friend lunch)
Get 7.00 "Fender Jazz Bass" decal
Reassemble

ANd oh MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!! the action is SICK low -- the TONE has TOTALLY changed (was going to get different pickups-- NO NEED NOW---

I did order (thank you MUSICLILLY!!!) a brass saddled heavier bridge and new tuners (frankly the affinity tuners were.....really crappy)

So here she is -- freshly strung and hanging

So glad you liked the way the neck came out.
First time I've had to pull perfectly good frets out of a "new" neck.
If anyone cares, the fret slots have been filled with .020 white binding material and trimmed flush with the board.
It also got a treatment of my magic fretboard conditioner and color enhancer.

All in all, a great way to scam a free lunch and spend a couple hours dining & drinking with a buddy!

I would like to also thank Drumoid who partialy funded said lunch -- in exchange for my "transporting skills" ;)

Im like a gear oriented Fedex --- without the DAMAGE! ----but there might be more junk rubbing...........so.....

For the record -- "black out" metals and hardware ordered.......this beastie is gonna get dark......and with that picguard -- the way it swirls it reminds me of................................something................................

nope ---- Chris it actually takes a lighter touch -- and there is no string clank like the fretted.
it TOTALLY changes the sounds BIG time

Adrian, Here is a good demo from what seems like a good young player on the same J bass as I have. This is my 2nd one. I wish I kept the first to compare the 2.

Yes...I am now "at" the cost of a BOG STOCK entry level Affinity J bass from say Sweetwater--

The "Jaco" fretless can range from 240.00 to 400.00 depending (new used etc)
