How Much Would Spend on Concert Tickets Today ?

I find it funny that people will spend hundreds of dollars to see a big name band but not want to spend twenty dollars to see two or three original local bands who are very good (and will probably be someone's new favorite band) at a local rock club or dive bar. Same goes for spending a premium to see a tribute band. I'd rather be blown away by an up and coming band that writes their own stuff, busts their butts, and tries to do something original.

If I was home I'd try to dig up a couple old ticket stubs. I saw Blue Öyster Cult in '78 for the whopping sum of $3.50. It was just before they got big and started playing bigger venues, and having to pay more for the tickets.

We go every summer to a 3 day festival here. Classic rock mainly, stuff everyone can sing everything, usually. We sit up on the back deck rooftop behind the hotel whose grounds it is on, it's all inclusive so ours are more social plus seeing bands you like. I go down front to the mosh pit for a few songs to take pics of the ones I like.
Not fair to compare those tickets to "normal" find your piece of turf with lawn chair tickets.
Those cheap ones are like $200 for 3 days. It's 11 bands total a good deal. Usually Cdn bands, ones like Harlequin, Prism, Streetheart ( whom I all really love) and even Tommy DeCarlo formerly of Boston with an excellent band, Styx, Quiet Riot, Helix, Lee Aaron etc.

We are going to see Halestorm here this Oct in the arena. Trust me, she is singing live, no backing tracks there. Can't recall the ticket price, under $200. I can get my small camera in and take pics. I would not pay like $500 for any band.
We don't go to too many shows, would rather play 'em myself.

Speaking of festivals. Y'all ought to come check out Lollapalooza in Chicago. Several stages. Lots of bands. Main stage can see 100,000 people. Lesser stages and less known bands, maybe 10-20k. This year a single day pass was “only”189 bucks. Weekend pass (4 days) touch over 400. This year there were around 170 bands that played over the 4 days on 8 stages.

One of those bands was the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra that my two eldest grandkids were part of. No. I did not go. Their dad did. (People in the bands get a free pass for the weekend. He used one of those) Considering orchestral type music is not the normal fare at this festival, they chose good tunes to play and were very well received by the concert goers at their stage.

We saw Lzzy with Skid row in Reno, hell of a show. No she does not lip sync.
Every artist I have seen is not lip syncing.
That’s a load of crap.

I paid around $300 for 2 seats to take my son to see Metallica at the Padres stadium in San Diego in 2017. We had a good time, I would do that again for him.
Same thing with G n R when he’ll freezes over tour. He really liked both shows. Of course he grew listening to them.

There are not very many music fans here Jethro. Not as many as would have thought anyway. I’m 65 and just retired but I don’t stop going at least not yet.

My whole thing is Schenker is about 5 years older than me, he is not playing around here at all. So it’s going to be a mini vacation.
We did the road trip to Reno. Not this time.
I Gosh Darn (emphasis on darn know he playing the guitar) I don’t care what the singer does or anyone else for that matter. I have seen him play live about 8 times.
Not waiting until it’s to late.

To be fair, many bands sing along to recorded versions so not lip syncing but an extra layer of voice to fill it out, plus, if they miss a word, it is still there.
A cop out?
Absolutely in my books. I would rather hear an honest mistake. The Crue claims they have been using that type of tech since the 80s. Vince is no longer the best singer around...

Many also play to click tracks to keep the timing.
Me? No way man. Drummer can keep reasonable time, I'm in. You have leeway to f*rt around more. System doesn't even allow that word!! :D
gaseous emissions?

No likely no clicky.

I look very forward to Lzzy in Oct. Some pics coming from the Aug fest.

Last decent Super Bowl 1/2 time show was The Who. Don't know about all the instruments, but the singing to my ears was live. I heard mistakes.

Toward the end of my tenure on worship team we not only started using in ear monitor..... which I liked, but also click track on some songs. I get the idea behind the click track, but it messed me up more than it helped.

In theory and in studio, yes.
Rock band? Let the drummer hammer it out and just play.

I would agree on drummer instead of click.
I like the click for count in when recording but that’s why I usually place drum tracks with whatever I do.
It’s been a while since I played with a drummer.

I’ve played to a click for so many years now, I barely notice it. I keep it on while I’m working out parts, and building the drum parts. But once the piece is completely written, the drum parts are all done and I turn the click off.

So far I have used the midi in the different drum software but if it’s just guitar or bass I use the click track.
I started working a little on keys again, it helps with melody.

So , the end result. I am not saying what I spent to see this concert because it’s crazy but I assure you there are no pre recorded tracks

I actually had seen BOC, I believe Iron Maiden opened for them. Before Bruce, sadly as kids we really didn’t respect the radio artist back then. It was Iron Maiden Killers tour.
We walked out on B.O.C. :hide:

I've left the concert venues far behind. Many reasons. Prices yes, but also I hate crowds, I don't care for modern shows with all the giant TV screens and other BS, (possibly the most important) prefer the intimacy of a local venue, saw all my formative bands and prefer to view that time in a rose tinted rear view mirror. I don't need to feel the warm thrill of confusion, that space cadet glow.

I understand

The last major act I paid for was Jeff Beck 1999 house of blues Los Vegas $50.00 each ticket
since then all shows were free because I supplied the amps the artiest requested
one more when my band was playing out a lot of famous artist want to get on stage to show off
we get over a million tourist off the cruse ships a year

Michael Schenker is an obsession I have.
I have faithfully followed him. This is the first time I spent way more than I should have but in some ways , it’s worth it. Neither of us are ungsters. I highly regret not going to see Rush in 2015 because that was the end. So what ever reason we don’t go is entirely your choice. The reason I go is I’m a life long fan.

All of the shows I have seen him play up until this point were inexpensive. I know when I pay to see him , he is giving 110%.
