I keep telling myself I’m going to record some riffs… or covers and post them here. Keep thinking that will motivate me to practice and play more. So far. Nope.
Do more recording than jamming at the moment.
Wouldn't mind that changing, the old band is at least communicating these days.
Wholeheartedly agree sir. This would be good for you Steve, in ways that I think would help promote your well being..
Same boat. I do when I have things to work on,I do not. And should. I have no excuse… other than I just don’t go sit down and play.
You took the exact words out of my mouth. As the great Gomer Pyle would say...I do not. And should. I have no excuse… other than I just don’t go sit down and play.
That's what I try to tell the missus about....something else....Non retiree, but I try to play at least 20-30 minutes every day. It may not be real, structured practice. But, better to use it than lose it.
I met a local, retired, very good musician back in November; we are trying to get together and play each week (he lives 10 minutes away). We are only a few years apart so our musical tastes are very similar. This inspires me to practice more. He's very talented, plays bass, drums, guitar, sings and writes and records. Was over at his place a few weeks ago and he hands me a sheet that we play. I was like, dang, never heard of that one before. He goes, that's because I just wrote it last night !
His name is Al. He started his own furniture business in his twenties and when he retired 7 years ago he sold the business with 125 employees. Quite a nice guy and music was his hobby. We met through our wives. They were both volunteering for a charity event and got to talking. Somehow they got onto guitars and music and my wife tells her that I built a studio and had the line "If you build it, they will come". She went home and told that to Al and he says, I gotta meet this guy. He called me on the phone and we talked for about an hour. That's fantastic, Don!!!!
A guy i know named Pete Redshaw used to play 7 nights a week up in Big Bear and we were on the cusp of joining forces when the pandemic hit and he moved back to Alaska.
No, I must have missed that post.@Don O - That's awesome news!!!! Those are the best types of musical relationships. I'll come up and be your roadie for free.
Did you see where the sign went up yesterday for the new music academy???
