How many retirees are practicing regularly or frequently

I keep telling myself I’m going to record some riffs… or covers and post them here. Keep thinking that will motivate me to practice and play more. So far. Nope.

I encourage you to start practicing Rick, I believe once you begin, you will start to see some progress you are making, that will intern give you some motivation.. You just need that initial start..

Goodluck, I expect to hear from you soon..:)

I'm not retired (and probably never will be) but I do keep a guitar in my office and get in at least an hour each day. Sometimes when I am lucky I plug in for an hour or so when I get home too. And of course on the weekends I typically play 3-4 hours each day unless my wife has concocted some crazy plan for us that I knew nothing about and had no say in.

I do not. And should. I have no excuse… other than I just don’t go sit down and play.
You took the exact words out of my mouth. As the great Gomer Pyle would say...

Every morning, from 4am until 6am, i am jamming, noidling or otherwise playing .

Once i get to the studio, i continue this between projects.

I met a local, retired, very good musician back in November; we are trying to get together and play each week (he lives 10 minutes away). We are only a few years apart so our musical tastes are very similar. This inspires me to practice more. He's very talented, plays bass, drums, guitar, sings and writes and records. Was over at his place a few weeks ago and he hands me a sheet that we play. I was like, dang, never heard of that one before. He goes, that's because I just wrote it last night !

That's fantastic, Don!!!!

A guy i know named Pete Redshaw used to play 7 nights a week up in Big Bear and we were on the cusp of joining forces when the pandemic hit and he moved back to Alaska.

His name is Al. He started his own furniture business in his twenties and when he retired 7 years ago he sold the business with 125 employees. Quite a nice guy and music was his hobby. We met through our wives. They were both volunteering for a charity event and got to talking. Somehow they got onto guitars and music and my wife tells her that I built a studio and had the line "If you build it, they will come". She went home and told that to Al and he says, I gotta meet this guy. He called me on the phone and we talked for about an hour.
