Here's The Skinny

Guys, I'm not sure this is the ideal setting for this but it struck me as the easiest way to get info to the guys. Typing is still a bit of a chore after my little adventure, still not fully recovered from the bang on the head and words sometimes don't come. So this is the easiest for me rather than individually message.
So anyway, here's the skinny .....

For those that know me and wondering where I’ve been, and for anyone who’s interested really, here’s a rundown of the little hiccup that put me out of commission for over a year.
As a lot of you guys know, my job involves dangling from ropes, abseiling (rappelling I think you guys call it), climbing and general work at height shenanigans. I was on a job working dayshift and unbeknown to me there was another company working Nightshift on the same structure as me installing stainless steel sheeting. Well it turns out one of the sheets they installed was cut too big and protruded slightly through the structure. I started my dayshift next day unaware of this issue, my working ropes cames into contact with the raw cut edge of the stainless sheeting and cut right through. This caused me to fall 40 ft to the deck hitting a couple of steel beams on the way down.
The result of that was a fractured skull, bleeding on the brain, a broken jaw, a broken collar bone, a compound fracture of the radius bone in my arm, 2 broken wrists, a broken pelvis, both legs smashed and a ruptured spleen. I flatlined twice and was put into an induced coma and had my spleen removed. There was suspected brain damage when I eventually came round because I couldn’t speak at first then words were getting mixed up when I eventually could but it seems to have done a factory reset on its self now and it’s mostly ok. After the coma it was a process of bolting and pinning me together. Physiotherapy has been a bitch

Dear God!!! Man, that's insane and over the top horrific. Glad you're doing better but $hit that is brutal

Sorry that this happened to you Brother Kev.

You are one of the smartest and toughest individuals I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. I can't imagine what you have and are going through but I know damn well you're going to be 100% .

Anything, anytime, you holler and I will make it happen.

Oh my God, that is horrible.
Glad you survived.

Sorry to hear this. I hope the best for your recovery. I had a motorcicle accident 7 month ago. A guy with a car hit me from side bike. I fell unconscious. I broken one feet, one wrist (scaphoid bone) and nine vertebrae. I'm wearing 18 screws on my back. I'm with pain all day. Physiotherapy it's hard. Still on recovery.

Thanks for the kind words guys although I think my wife got short end of the deal. She got the phone call and had to make a 3 hour drive to the hospital not knowing what was waiting on her. She was then told to expect the worst when she got there. It must have been horrific for her.

Well she'll get her revenge eventually.

"Take out the trash please."
"Do I really have to right now? I'm kinda busy."
"...remember that time I drove 3 hours to the hospi/"
"ok. ok."

"Let's watch The Notebook and cuddle on the couch."
"Really? The game is on."

Damn Kev! So glad you survived such injuries. I knew it wasn't good when you didn't message me back for over a year. I can only imagine what your wife went thru also. Please thank her again for messaging me back. Up until then I thought we had lost you because I couldn't imagine any other reason you would leave me hanging. Apologies for thinking the worst.

I don't really know what else to say at this time. I'm just so relieved to know you are recovering and going to be ok. I hope you're being well compensated and retired from that line of work.

Thanks for filling us in!

Holy #$%@ Kev. Dude, I'm so sorry you have to deal with that. I'm stoked that you're still with us though. Missed your humor around these parts. I always thought that if you had a fall like you did, your nuts would take the brunt of the fall. Those things have got to be massive from what you do.
As strange as it sounds, the first part of the fall wasn't too bad. When the ropes cut I remember thinking man, this is gonna hurt ! Then I hit the first H beam and thought wow that wasn't too bad, obviously an adrenaline thing. Things went rapidly down hill from there though :ROFLMAO:

Yeah, she's kinda not speaking to me just now :ROFLMAO:
A few days ago I had an idea to deal with the phycological aspect that had been playing on my mind. I took some equipment to a local disused quarry. I put a harness on, got roped up and abseiled down a rock face. It was a "get back in the saddle" situation and I wanted to test myself but she found out about it and lost her everloving $hit, calling me every name under the sun including an irresponsible ahole :ROFLMAO:

Sorry to hear that man. All the best for your recovery.
I know it's hard to take when it was someone else's fault

Cheers Steve, you're a good friend (y)

Yeah, lawyers from both sides are currently doing their thing. They have to agree what percentage of blame can be attributed to me and then the compensation amount can be reduced by that percentage

Blessings to you and your wife and family. You are extremely fortunate to be alive.
My thoughts and prayers to you for your full recovery.

I'm sure this is not the highest priority - but have you / are able to play guitar?
Thank you (y)

I picked the guitar up again for the first time just recently and thought my injuries had severely affected my ability on the instrument. But then I remembered I wasn't very good to start with :ROFLMAO:
