Guys, I'm not sure this is the ideal setting for this but it struck me as the easiest way to get info to the guys. Typing is still a bit of a chore after my little adventure, still not fully recovered from the bang on the head and words sometimes don't come. So this is the easiest for me rather than individually message.
So anyway, here's the skinny .....
For those that know me and wondering where I’ve been, and for anyone who’s interested really, here’s a rundown of the little hiccup that put me out of commission for over a year.
As a lot of you guys know, my job involves dangling from ropes, abseiling (rappelling I think you guys call it), climbing and general work at height shenanigans. I was on a job working dayshift and unbeknown to me there was another company working Nightshift on the same structure as me installing stainless steel sheeting. Well it turns out one of the sheets they installed was cut too big and protruded slightly through the structure. I started my dayshift next day unaware of this issue, my working ropes cames into contact with the raw cut edge of the stainless sheeting and cut right through. This caused me to fall 40 ft to the deck hitting a couple of steel beams on the way down.
The result of that was a fractured skull, bleeding on the brain, a broken jaw, a broken collar bone, a compound fracture of the radius bone in my arm, 2 broken wrists, a broken pelvis, both legs smashed and a ruptured spleen. I flatlined twice and was put into an induced coma and had my spleen removed. There was suspected brain damage when I eventually came round because I couldn’t speak at first then words were getting mixed up when I eventually could but it seems to have done a factory reset on its self now and it’s mostly ok. After the coma it was a process of bolting and pinning me together. Physiotherapy has been a bitch
