HELP!--

Agreed and understand........assuming of course this has the original screws......(dont laugh I just rebuilt the neck pocket of a telecaster that the P.O. had used a BENT non proper screw (wood screw threads al the way up) in......and SPLIT the pocket........when dealing with the low dollar bottom feeder gear I do--- you find ALL SORTS of stuff......mismatched screws..all over the place.....mismatched tuners.......taped together wiring...dings bangs cracks ...

Grab another of your many bolt on neck guitars.
Remove the neck and examine the situation in relationship to this Dean.
I strongly suspect you don't have a big problem.
"Get your mind right Luke".

What we got here is a lazy eSGEe buwahahhahhaaaaa

its working fine I got half a mind to leave it for a week and see what happens......(o.k. not really) , but oh never mind.....

I'll attempt in the 'morrow

PErhaps we shall place bets? I can document the unveiling???? see if its a proper bolt and comes right out ....or if its a FULL (fool) threaded shaft and causes "issues" ....

Oh...I have no doubt I can fix the Dean.........50 eggs.........you might be able to SMELL the effects of that one in OZ Gasket :)

I think you mean the other way around...shank of the screw should pass through the body with threads secure in the neck only. His could be just stuck in a tight pocket, perhaps originally set in before the paint completely cured.

It should just need a push.

Trouble is, that screw isn't very wide. I'm not sure a left handed bit that small would handle it???

Think about this ...
If it's threaded in the body as my rough drawing shows the countersunk head (I drew hex head) will tighten onto the body and never be able to tighten the gap between the two parts no matter how large or small.

My guess is that screw was damaged during installation....perhaps over torque.

Are you saying you cannot separate the neck from the body?
Get a bolt or drift (flat faced punch) just smaller than the body hole and persuade the bolt through it.
The screw should pass through the body and thread into the neck, as illustrated earlier.
You should end up with a stud sticking out of the neck to vise grip and judiciously work out.

I second the Strother Martin quote; I dont understand the problem.

YOu could make an epic youtube Pete Townsend and / or Jimi at Monterey video......
