To follow suit in this thread, I can honestly say David Gilmour's Strat playing highly influenced my life music wise.
This clip really accentuates his tone as well as that of Roger Water's bass playing. Try listening to it thru headphones.

I used to play Meddle on a cassette on my walkman to try and fall asleep. I loved how One of these Days winds you up, then the rest of the album floats your mind into a peaceful place. Then Echoes starts the same way but winds up with the ascending into controlled bombast and then comes the end to let you fall asleep if you want. Richard Wright's keys are incredibly subtle and yet powerful in Echoes too. And Oh heck yeah Water's hypnotic pulsating thump on bass as David wails on his Black Strat.
