A long duration heat event begins today.

What:
Maximum temperatures of 30 to 36 degrees Celsius.
Minimum temperatures of 21 to 25 degrees Celsius.
Humidex values of 37 to 45.

When:
Today through Friday, and possibly into the weekend.

Additional Information:
Maximum temperatures of 30 to 32 degrees Celsius and humidex values of 37 to 42 are expected today. Heat and humidity will increase further beginning Tuesday with maximum temperatures of 31 to 36 degrees Celsius and humidex values of 40 to 45. Minimum temperatures of 21 to 25 degrees Celsius will provide little relief from the heat.

Here in NE Illinois as well Norm. Looks like very similar highs and lows as you're getting. Difference. Humidity. Currently sitting on 82% humidity. Its a sauna outside. I found this humorous. But it is where we are headed for the next week.

One of the cactus is crying, the banana tree flipped me off and the mesquite tree is confused as normal.

96°F and extreme humidity again today, which puts us at around 105°F with the wind chill.

It's about 9:30 am and my balls are already sticking to my legs.

We're probably going to break records the next 3 days. 98 today.

We have had this extreme heat wave in central europe one week ago. Last week was still pretty hot, but with a bit of wind , and especially compared to the extremes we had before it feels almost refreshing.
The worst are the storms that alost inevitably follow the heat waves. I know how devastating those can be in the US, and I wish all you guys the best.

After almost a week of 90s and heat index close to or in the 100s (f) today we may have a front rolling thru bringing us cooler and dryer air for at least the next 7-10 days. Upper 70s low 80s. In fact I think I hear that front moving in as I type..... thunder.

I didn't even bother with the propane grill, etc. yesterday afternoon.

I simply tossed a couple of steaks, sausages, and veggie kabobs about 8 feet out onto my driveway from the garage door, went back inside, and checked on 'em every 5 minutes or so.

Steak was a little well-done, but not bad.
