FRIDAY NIGHT RIFFS

I've always changed pups in every guitar I've ever owned.
And I've gone round and round and over the years kind of learned what I like and what works for me

I often end up going back to the SH6 as my all time favorite pickup. It sounds great in almost any guitar. I try newer versions and want to love them too.
Truth is they all sound better than any of them did 20yrs ago. Ha ha.

These black winters are just a modern improvement on the SH6. But actually they're still an sh6.

With the exception of an X2n and a Dimebucker in my Jackson's, and Blackout, Mick Thompsons in my explorers, I've got either an sh6, or a black winter, in every guitar I am currently still playing. For me they are it.

Yeah, I've always loved the SH6 as well. Started with the DImarzio Super Distortion which I had in my main guitar for decades, then the SH6 was the first one that started my crazy pickup swapping. I had a Jackson SL2q and a DKNY at the same time last year, the SL2q had an SH6 set and the DKNY had the "Duncan Designed" Distortion set. Did a few comp tracks and songs with them and no one could tell the difference. So, now if I see a set of DD I try and grab em.

That journey led me to the Elysian Trident II, made by hand Adam Bath, a metal player who owns Elysian Pickups. Have a set of those in my KM6 and just a bridge in my 540SLTD. They're like an SD6 on steroids, if you ask me:

If you ever get the chance you should grab one of them - amazing pups for what we play.

Wow ..pure hell on earth there.

Nice. (y)(y)
Thanks Sapient! I think... :ROFLMAO:

My boss is a super cool guy, metal drummer, insanely creative and also likes to build/heavily mod guitars. After showing him my Franken7, I asked if he could fix it up for me, knowing he does crazy good work. He took it on Tuesday and I expected to not get it back for at least a few weeks. He rolled the fret board, cleaned all the fret ends, leveled the few frets that had high spots, dropped the action, intonated it and cleaned the fretboard. And, had it back to me yesterday at 8am. Wow.

So, I tossed together this piece this morning, just so he could hear it. I've been riff-uninspired lately, so apologies for that in advance.

After listening to it, I think I may re-record some of it with different amp presets before I send a link his way...
