I wasn’t sure just where to put this, but I felt I had to share… @smitty_p especially.
So a good friend emailed me, asking for setup help for live monitoring a new amp modeling plugin, last night.
This is the youtube video he sent me…
This is a link to the plug-in page.

NAM - Neural Amp Modeler Plug-in…..It’s open-source, and free. It works with many DAW hosts. It’s available for Windoze, and MAC currently….BUT the big thing I noticed was the line on the site that said, “Could also support………….iOS soon”. That would be very cool with me…because I went to this model sharing page, and downloaded a few models…
I loaded it up, and selected a SLO100 model to fire up. I didn’t have any IR files on the drive that was handy, so I went without, and just strapped a reverb across the bus(you could chain any plug-ins your processor can handle at your lower buffer settings…eq, compression, etc). I was blown away by the touch sensitivity that was so much better than anything I’ve ever experienced in a sim…including my Kemper! I had set up some healthy gain, and thought better of it….I reflexively rolled my guitar volume back to about 7…it actually cleaned up a little. The Kemper doesn’t do that until I roll back to around 4-5. But my real amps do behave like that! So I rolled back to 4-5, and wouldn’t you know it!?!? Almost clean!
Just a quick trial to help a friend out with buffer settings and stuff…and I AM DIGGING IT! I have to dig out my drive with my old IR files on it, and dig a bit deeper! If I can load this up on my phone!…or an iPad!….it could be very cool indeed! Super portable! On my laptop, I was able to set the buffer down to 64 samples(like 4.6ms delay) for some low latency jam time…first impression?….Promising!
