Forum is slow and it crushed again.

Both. There are free hosting services on YouTube for videos and Soundcloud for audio files. This is just getting to be to big of a burden for the server. Hot link all you want, but we can no longer host these files here and keep this site in good working order. We were never designed to be a streaming video server.
 
I don't know of any forum hosting video or music files these days, or for the last 10 years come to that. The storage requirements are well beyond the scope of most private servers.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. I place the blame on myself for allowing members to upload videos to the server, my bad. We will be placing a notice to all members that they we will need to clear up some room on the server and you will need to find another way to host them.

What about images? I usually resize my images so they take up around 100K or less. I notice some devices, like phones and tablets, can take pics that are quite sizable - a couple megs or more. Should we be resizing our pics?

Images are fine. I'll actally be installing software that will automatically resize images even after they have been uploaded.

Also, nevermind the file size, eating up all our capabilities. How do I find who are the members simultaneously online with me at all hours if our days and nights? Given that I converse with members from Alaska, to Australia, LA to Canada and some South Americans,. How can I see who is around to talk to since I can't find who is online while I am forced to use my phone?
 
In case any very savvy computer geeks on here can help,. Neither of my dinosaur 15-20 yr old windows 7 converted to Win 10 laptops will ""Connect" to our broadband after Thurs last week. For the remaining functioning one. It was determined to cause adverse effects on the "work laptop and phone equipment" Fiance's 2020 laptop still functions well, but she did some tests of our system when she experienced significant slowness in her laptop, apple Iphone and even blips in our TV signals when apparently I still had connection on my laptop. ( Seemingly the speed killer when in use)

The home page of the forum shows the members online
