For those who maybe lost a bit of inspiration to play

Right, that pic would have probably been taken some time in 1972, as it seems that's the year the original PAF died. By 1973, and through the end of Led Zeppelin, you will see him with a covered bridge pickup which is the one that is supposedly a T-Top, which later got yanked for a Duncan something-or-other.

There have been a lot of articles and Page has talked about it in interviews over the years. He doesn't specifically say "T-Top", but those are what would have been more or less what were readily available at that time while out on the road and the consensus has been that that's what you're hearing on the later recordings.
 
Maybe I should try a different guage of strings, or a different tuning. Maybe even grab a different guitar. Sometimes just a little different feel can spawn an idea or just make you play a tad bit differently. Maybe I restring one of my Floyd'd axes. One of the Jacksons, perhaps. Maybe get my grandpa's ol dobro back out, tune it up open and work on some gritty slide guitar. Try a new amp, or something...something

I feel bad, like I've abandoned my craft.. There are songs that I've written just in the past year, that I am no longer in shape enough to actually play. One in particular involves some riffing that requires some pretty intricate and precision pick hand work and I can't frigging do it anymore. Dammit, I was proud of that passage too lol

I posted one video of myself doing some lead stuff over a backing track sometime in Feb '19, and I know for a fact that I cannot play that anymore......and I was even half drunk when I recorded it lol

I actually feel.....guilty about this.


I think it's time for me to get back to doing what I love doing. I guess that's why it's called the grind. It's not always gonna be rainbows and butterflies, this poop takes actual work, man. Sometimes I seem to forget that.

LRT and I do have one in the works that I've been kinda pushing to record...and we probably should have already because it was almost there.....and then I put the guitar down for a while and now I can't play it at the tempo I want. It involves both Kerry King style AND Hetfield style triplets back to back. It's genuine exercise, because it's confusing to the pick hand to pull off without sounding like absolute slop. Gotta be on top of your game to pull it off lol.....and I'm currently not on top of my game lol

...but soon brother...that one in particular feels like unfinished business. Needs to be completed.

But I think you're going to like it. Lots of chug, and some perhaps surprising elements in it too. And NO guitar solo, which is kinda new for me lol

Some of the riffing in this one is actually kinda more like little lead lines as it is lol

Think almost Lamb of God style type of heavy

If no solo im still not happy, so stop making exuses and justifying not doing solo, and just do it it dose not have to be Jason Baker ripping,sweeping,tapping, like. Just enough to be little high light of the song :)))

So I have not been posting much recently due to several life issues which have also been effecting my urge to play guitar. In actuallity I have only picked up a guitar once in the past year and a half. I love music, I love listening to music, I love listening to members here sharing their music. I hope to be able to enjoy playing again sometime soon. Due to powers beyond my control, I just can't find the time or the motivation to pick up and play. I hope to change this situation soon.

Sounds like a few of us here too.
For me, I WANT to play....but shortly after I pick it up and no magic happens, I just put it back down and go do something else. And then I feel bad that I actually didn't want to play after all.

you were on fire, dog came said yeah he still got it , damn bro thats sick. after heearing you for a while he said i cant handel this awesomenss than he left. :)

you know the harmonic slide you did there abaout 5,06 min i cant do that its always sounds like stinker :)

so in closeing mr. mc blink , if you dont put solo in it ill get upset and safe space is closed due to corona so it will be on your conches dont know how to spell that word (im foriegn) :)

To be honest, I never liked how that slide came out in this video....I can do better....but I didn't quite nail it how I wanted for the video. Oh well, there's actually quite a few flubs in there, and a whole lot of repetition

I seem to have lost all my finesse. I gotta get back in shape or else I might slip farther into not being inspired.

By "in shape" I really mean my playing. That beer gut I have isn't probably going anywhere real soon :ROFLMAO:
