For Mr Grumpy: my current pedalboard configuration

Had issues with a couple of pedals, going to test this configuration out tomorrow. The power supply setup is the same as previously, just with the Snark tuner replacing the Polytune and the NS-2 replacing the Decimator G-String II.

Impressive! I've never had enough pedals to have my own board.

Dave, I have an archaic "One Spot" I bought ten years ago. Think its still a decent power supply for a guy like me with only 4 effects???

Everyone tells me its outdated, which I suppose is true, but if it works well, I'm OK with that.

Thoughts???

thanks to you Pedal JUNKIES --- I am now up to 4 pedals......
Morley Bad Horsie Wah
Behringer Tube Screamer clone
HOLY GRAIL REVERB (my favorite)
and the Digitech Trio--- which is more like a drumer and bass player that just LIVe int he pedal --- not REALLY a pedal per say. ---

that is all --- I want/need no more --I want no more -- do not temp me with your tales of el;ectronic issues signal confusions and Electrical Engineering nightmares.......

----so whats your favorite DIRT pedal Dave. ............................

Robert if it works without buzzing etc keep it the way it is. If you start getting noise problems look into a unit with isolated outlets.

eSGEe how do you like the Bad Horsie? I have heard good things about that wah, the Tremonti wah, and the one I ended up with (Lynch wah) out of the Morley range. Out of them all I think mine is the loudest LOOKING ...

Also I changed the pedal order in the LS-2 loop a bit.

In testing I did have a volume drop problem, because I wasn't supplying enough current to the Ghost Echo. When I turned it off normal level happened. So it requires more than 120mA in practice.

So now the config on the power is as follows:

The 10-band EQ and boost pedal run off the 18V outlet on the Fuel Tank Chameleon. The MXR phaser, chorus, and delay are daisy-chained from one outlet on the Chameleon as they have been fine with that before. The LS-2 runs from an outlet on the Chameleon and also powers the Ghost Echo. The PS-6 and DD-20 have their own outlets on the Chameleon. The rest of them - the Waza Craft delay, the RV-5, the tuner, the ISP Decimator G-String II, and the Morley wah all have individual outlets on the Fuel Tank Junior power supply. The EV-30 is passive and operates the DM-2W and PS-6 simultaneously.

To answer your other question eSGEe I don't use dirt pedals on this rig, just the MXR/CAE MC401 boost/linedriver ... my amp is dirty enough!

I have a T-Rex Mudhoney II and an old MIJ Boss HM-2 that I use with the Peavey Mark VIII XP for my bass rig

That is a pedal I have wanted to give a whirl for the longest but just haven't acquired it yet. One of these days I will land one.

This is the setup I was running at our show this time last week. Wah after the boost pedal, last before the amp input. Seems to work well for what I need and the tuner doesn't seem to 'pop' now that it doesn't have the wah ahead of it. AND I have all of my funny foot pedals next to each other. On stage I keep the channel switcher over near the drum kit so that I can cue the drummer as to when I am using it (which is only once).

@Dave Sloven, how would you compare the MXR EVH phaser to the regular Phase 90?

The quick answer is that I have never used the regular Phase 90, this is the only phaser I've ever had.

It is supposed to combine the current Phase 90 with the script reissue, which you get by depressing the white button.

What I can tell you is that I run it with the knob all the way down and the white button engaged, which is its most subtle setting. It's still pretty crazy on that setting as it is in my effects loop and hence has all the gain of my preamp in front of it. In the pictures above where the knob is higher than that it's just because it was bumped when I rearranged the board. I always run it on its mildest setting, which is supposedly milder than anything on the regular Phase 90.

I haven't had a chance to test this, but I figured you'd get a laugh out of it. Didn't bother with another one of those schematics. It's basically the same except the EVH Flanger has replaced the EVH Phase 90 when I took the overdrive off the small board. The Morley volume pedal is between the flanger and the chorus. The other pedal is set up as a double expression pedal for the DD-7 and the RE-20, not sure if that will even work.

looking at this I'm lost. I'm using a DD-3 and volume pedal in th effects loop, plus a CS-3 and NS-2 in front of the amp and an A/B to switch between necks/amps and I have no clue how to lay this out without having pedals all over the place....

Here's the simpler configuration. Hopefully it doesn't let me down live. I only use the channel selector once in the whole set so I am going to leave the footswitch home and just use the button on the head when the intro finishes. I also didn't use the looper much. The 10-band EQ and boost pedal run off the 18V outlet on the Fuel Tank Chameleon. The MXR phaser, chorus, and delay are daisy-chained from one outlet on the Chameleon as they have been fine with that before. The LS-2 runs from an outlet on the Chameleon and also powers the RV-5. You have an onboard power supply???

I bought a One Spot in 2009 and never used it. Wonder if I could use it to supply my effects?

Rob that should work just fine. Get a daisy chain for it and it will run all 4 of them. When I 1st got into picking up pedals I read it will work for up to 5 9V pedals on 1. I bought 2. 1 for back up in case the other quit. I just gave one away to a bud who I made a little pedal board for and the other is going to my niece in the little board I am making her.

Thanks! Any source info for this "daisy chain" you speak of?

I'm wondering if I should try and find a pedal board for all this stuff. It's far too spread out. I've never owned a board....clueless!!!!

I think you would be much happier! And it would be less to move. I have a Gator board and it tucks in the gig bag it came with nicely if I want to go anywhere.
Give me minute and I will get you links to the daisy chain. I may actually have a couple around here. It's always good to have an extra, like patch cables they can go bad for no apparent reason. I haven't had a daisy go bad but the singles out of my power supply I have.
