I promise that's the overhead light making that reflection. I know I didn't use a flash on that first shot. Edit: Actually it was a lamp behind me.I think that dude is overly complicating things.
Firstly, first shot is WITH flash, you can see it reflecting but doesn't spread wide enough to get edges.
Blurry usually means no flash andnyhe shutter speed lowers to gather light. Sadly that also creates camera shake.
Slow shutter will increase shake as mentioned. Go back to auto, or P mode, and try setting the ISO higher. That makes it more sensitive to light, thinkmof it like a gain control in audio.
I was mistaken, it was the ISO that I set to the lowest. I can't find a shutter speed setting, now I'm confused.
