I can’t even begin to imagine!…

It was tricky. I opened one thread to discuss what was going on, and told everybody that I was going to allow them to talk about it in that thread only, as it was obviously of huge historical importance and would be impossible to not acknowledge. It was emotionally charged, but for the most part it was manageable.

We did lose one member that day, who was trapped in one of the towers. Mike Gould. All these years later, I still remember his name. I guess that's a good thing (that he has not been forgotten)...

My kids were building MOOs and MUDs through the inky blackness of the early text-only Internet. And I was on The WELL (which predates the kind of web-based nastiness we expect these days), on my trusty Atari STe, with its whopping four megabytes of RAM.

My first forum was Usenet Google Groups alt.Guitar.Amps or AGA, those guys were brutal. No rules, no moderators, politics, religion, hate speech, racism it was a free for all. No longer open for posts but can still read old info there.

ETSG for me. Had just purchased a used G400 and just seemed to be the right thing to do. Today, I don’t even check in any more. It was thru ETSG where @WavMixer invited me to come hang out in TTR.
