EVH Tribute

Thanks guys.

It was fun to build but I was never fully satisfied as there were some poor choices made at the beginning of the project that affected the overall outcome. The body was from an unknown builder and there were several issues with it. The shape wasn’t entirely correct and this resulted in the stripes not lining up quite right. Also, the pivot post holes for the Floyd Rose bridge were drilled in the wrong locations and I had to plug and redrill. I will definitely select a body from a reputable source next time.

The neck was an amazing Birdseye neck from Warmoth but it had the standard Strat heel instead of the correct Tele heel shape. I will use a Frankie neck from Musikraft next time.

Oh, and there will be a next time!:D

For the last year or so, I have been gathering the components for Version 2.0. I have the correct set of reflectors for the rear. I have an original ‘80’s Floyd Rose, complete with locking nut and string retainer bar. I also have the very last Replicator single coil pickup that John Williams wound. It has correct colour bobbins but this one is functional and not a dummy. It will make the guitar more versatile but still look completely authentic.

The neck order is going in next week!

I don't know about that. It looks great. I've long thought an EVH "themed" build would be great, as opposed to a copy.

Wondee what his idea was with those reflectors on the back??? They look uncomfortable!!!
I heard he just stopped in a truck stop in the middle of the night while on tour and bought a whole variety pack to put on the guitar and used to flip it to the backside during shows to make it sort of light up when the stage lights hit it. But with all EVH stories, you never got the full story from the man himself, so who knows? Lol

This was built entirely from parts that I had just laying around from various failed or never started projects.
Before one of you EVH experts chimes in, it was meant as a tribute and definitely not a "replica" of the guitar that morphed into Frankie.
The body is a Music Man Axis-style from Tone Bomb and has been several different colours already. The neck was from a different project and had a very strange headstock. What you see is the best I could come up with to replicate an EVH Wolfgang headstock without having to plug and redrill tuner holes. It does have the spoke wheel at the heel for adjustment, just like the EBMM, Peavey and EVH models.
Isnt that the true spirit of the whole thing? To cobble together a decent playing boneyard guitar?

Well done!
I will be watching your upcoming replica build!
