EVH DEAD of CANCER Today RIP ED

No, that was me doing burn outs in my 68 big block Camaro leaving the Exxon station near Rolling road and Rt40. :dood:

AHHHHH, So DonO, You were the older version of the ME I dreamed of as a kid. From before I could drive, the 67-69 Z Camaros, and Firebirds were my dream car.

It kills me to think how close I was too. At 15 I could have had a 67 Firebird from a little old lady for $500. Now we can't touch a rolling chassis of one for 10 times that much.

God, man, thinking of that place gave me a little "Growing Up In The Suburbs" PTSD Flashback and made me need to hear this...

Gball. I saw them do that song live for the first time as 3 buddies and I did a road trip to Syracuse University to visit another friend who got us 4 tickets to their show in 1982-83. His dorm was right next to the Carrier Dome where Rush played a Saturday show. This was the first time I saw Alex playing a Strat shaped guitar and of course their more new wave style haircuts.

I had a lot of strange nights in that place. I was actually at the "Rock And Roll Parking Lot" concert but didn't get interviewed. Too bad its gone in a way.

Some of my favorite concert memories, and a few missed chances is what I experienced at the Cap Center. My memory is pretty good despite the years adding up on me here lately. MY Cap Center VH story goes like this. If memory serves me right, it was my first Cap Center concert , Van Halen, and maybe my 2nd one ever. 1st was Cheap Trick at Towson Center Towson State College. Anyway, picture packed hallways and even more jammed men's rooms as everyone was urgently trying to pee before the show. What I saw next was truly a first for this 15-16 yr old rocker. There were girls using the toilets in the men's room, and guys peeing in the sink because the stalls were all full.

All I could think of was ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

In 1972 only parents had cameras. I only have a few B&Ws of it. This was taken in my parents backyard. Its gray primer as I could never afford $ to get it painted. It got about 6 miles per gallon with a 850 Holley double pumper on top of a built 402/375.

One of my most vivid memories of the place. Hot chicks squatting over the sink in the mens room with it all hanging out. I'm sure it probably happened at every concert hall in the country but it felt special at the time. ;)

Well I'll be... I was just reading this article and found the address where the Van Halen brothers grew up. When I was a teenager in 1971, I had some friends that were girls and had pools. In the picture below I have an arrow pointing to Angie's and Linda's homes. Note the arrow pointing to Linda's swimming pool where we spent a lot of the summer days. I remember hearing live music, sometimes just drums coming from across Crawford Alley. Now please look at the arrow pointing to the home where Eddie and Alex grew up taking note of the arrow pointing to a shed where the boys used to practice.

The liquor store around the corner with their name in concrete was also a frequent place I visited. I'll have to drive by there and take a look.

My first love left me for a singer in a band that did a lot of VH songs.
I had met them, been around them rehearsing some, they were a couple years older.
I hated the guy for a while but, never really blamed him for it.
Life goes on.

3 of the 4 were ok dudes.
The guitar player was a very good player but an arrogant sarcastic condescending prick.
Thought he was superior.
Never heard his name again; guess he never made the big time.
Dick.

Good thing he never made it big or he would have been a big prick.
