EPI Les Paul Standard LQ Series

I can attest to the fact the SG from Robert--- with his Shielding --- is DEAD QUIET -- by far one of the quietest guitars I own

There is 12 feet of 2" copper in that SG...but keep in mind that here, working in a recording studio, I could not afford to have EFI/RFI, so I spared no cost in terms of labor expenditure...

Well, my labor is me.

But I don't want to clean it up for recording purposes.

It seems the better I get with the DAW the more imperfections are revealed.

Thanks for the input everyone. It's much appreciated.

There is a seller on E-Bay called "Art Of Tone." I get 6 foot rolls of 2" copper tape from him (with conductive adhesive) for $2.69

I would not paint the back of the covers. The paint will stick to the paint and it will crate some issues if you need back inside the cavity....

The singular point is that ALL cavities have 100% continuity. The "Faraday effect" cannot take place if there is not full continuity. You can heat and bend a toothbrush to paint the sides of the switch cannel...

I went total overkill on this project....

First, I painted the entire guitar with sheilding paint. But I wasn't happy with the continuity. I had varying resistance values in a few places, so I topped the paint with copper foil tape with conductive adhesive:

Thinking of painting, check results.

If need be I'll go full on Robert on it.

I'm finding my Strat is going to be quite a chore. I won't be changing my single coils, have to learn how to edit well.

Strat's will benefit from shielding, although it won't totally kill 60 cycle hum, it will greatly reduce it.

The shielding job shown here is over 28 years old...on my 1987 MIK Squirecaster:

Another fantastic Strat shielding modification is the .015" aluminum shim that goes behind the pick guard. these are cheap from Guitar Fetish and they really work. Note that I modded this one for a bridge humbucker, but they come in S-S-S configuration...

Hey @ninjaking67 , I’m really curious about your Epiphone LP, and how it performed at rehearsal!
Don,

It was amazing! I was having so much fun I totally forgot to get some sound clips. The guitar played great and the '57 Classic/Classic Plus sounded great. I had them in an SG before but never in an LP. Both myself and member Leedspool play together weekly and we have assembled a "band". I mentioned to him last night that I am going to put my 1990 Gibby LP Standard up for sale and keep this Epi, I like it so much!

Sounds like you have had a similar experience with the 57/57+ in a LP style guitar...VS...in a SG.
I’m glad that you’re enjoying your, very cool, new guitar! (Bummer there’s no clip action...but such is life)(y)
