Walks Backward

My luck with new fangled electronic devices has been dismal at best. When they fail they suffer my wrath with a violent end. The DVD player was the latest to get shot to pieces. Two months and it failed. Prior to that a combination DVD/VCR just quit working with some sort of programming error. My computer savvy neighbor will usually help me when there's something in it for him. And since he can't get a pedal, amp, or guitar outta me for looking at this device (greedy sob) he ain't gonna help me with it. Besides, it would mean he'd have to get up off his ass and walk across the road. Thus the DVD player was bought instead. But now its gone.
When it did work it was selective in the discs it would play. Most would work, but the new ones "SHERLOCK" wouldn't work. They're from the first four seasons of the BBC production. One might work then two more would be "error disc" and such. They'll work with the laptop though. Must be a British thing. Then in a phone conversation with the neighbor, he says discs are "regional" as are players. BBC (english made ones) might not work unless cleared for U.S. region devices. That's just stupid!
So now I'm shopping for a new DVD player and figured I'd get one that does Blue Ray too. I mean why not? Might as well have a newer system fail me too right?
