DVD & BLUE RAY

Walks Backward

My luck with new fangled electronic devices has been dismal at best. When they fail they suffer my wrath with a violent end. The DVD player was the latest to get shot to pieces. Two months and it failed. Prior to that a combination DVD/VCR just quit working with some sort of programming error. My computer savvy neighbor will usually help me when there's something in it for him. And since he can't get a pedal, amp, or guitar outta me for looking at this device (greedy sob) he ain't gonna help me with it. Besides, it would mean he'd have to get up off his ass and walk across the road. Thus the DVD player was bought instead. But now its gone.

When it did work it was selective in the discs it would play. Most would work, but the new ones "SHERLOCK" wouldn't work. They're from the first four seasons of the BBC production. One might work then two more would be "error disc" and such. They'll work with the laptop though. Must be a British thing. Then in a phone conversation with the neighbor, he says discs are "regional" as are players. BBC (english made ones) might not work unless cleared for U.S. region devices. That's just stupid!

So now I'm shopping for a new DVD player and figured I'd get one that does Blue Ray too. I mean why not? Might as well have a newer system fail me too right?:BH::coffee:

Can we say Walmart, where i got mine.well then my Mother gave me a brand new Blue Ray player to so i got 2 hooked up to the TV.

How old is your television, Wade? Does it have an HDMI input? Just about any Bluray you get is going to require an HDMI input.

Hell im a worse Dinosaur,i got Dish network satalite TV.I like regular programing.News at 5, HDGT, History Channel ect.hahahaha

Get a blu- ray player, there cheap now i have a nice Panasonic 3d blu ray player,
But i dont remeber if they can play dvds lol and u must have HDMI and dont over pay dor a cable.
My next tv is gonna be a 4k

The TV is a new design with lots of jacks all over it. I'm sure its got a HEMI or whatever.

There is no wifi here. I cannot afford it.
I have no desire for streaming video and such.
I am going to get a modest priced Blue Ray that will play DVD as well.
I will also attempt to get another VCR as I have a small mountain of tapes.

I am an old man who has no desire to be "up to date" with the latest electronic contraptions. However, movies are on DVD and Blue Ray now thus I am forced into it. I did not grow up with these things and I don't like em. When they fail, I blast em. :flame::coffee:

This is an HDMI cable:

Unless your previous DVD player used HDMI, you'll need to get one of these to connect your Bluray to the television.

Once again you can get those No name HDMI cables at Walmart for a good price and they seem to work just fine as the fancy name brand ones that cost more.

That is true. But, keep your distances as short as possible. HDMI is rather distance sensitive.

Well it seems you bonded with the modern technology of The Firearm pretty well it used to be
rocks sticks knives swords. Now ya just gotta take it a step forward and stop using them
to destroy Smart phones and computers smart Tv's and Mboxes my friend they are your friends
don't kill them embrace them and all will be fine. I'm sending Deepak chopra over to help you
don't shoot him either.

The standard design of my weapons are 1873. I have one designed in 1911. Ain't nuthin new here. Even my bows are recurve or longbow.
I'm old, mean, and downright ornery when things malfunction. I hand grind my own coffee, shave with a straightrazor, and don't care for nuthin much made after 1960.
Not being rude, but I don't like technology. Period.tmp_7097-09091740-1226875576.jpg
