Down Tuning or Drop Pedal Which is Better?

Its ok Pumpkin, you can love your telecorprations abomination. Ill stick to my custom Jackson stick!
Lol in fairness, I've been playing a Strat-esque guitar ( the G&L Legacy Special) these days and of course the old faithful Explorer. Can't remember the last time I played the Tele but I can always break it out for you upon request!

We’ve had the Eb discussions at practice, ans never went there. As much as I like that tuning for a Strat. I do like drop D also, especially since I want to cover “Heroes.” I don’t think a pedal will detune specific strings.
No you're right, they can't figure out open tunings or drop D/B tunings with the pedals to my knowledge...least not yet anyways. Most just pitch the strings down ( usually 3-1/2 half steps) or can change it a whole octave, giving it almost a bass synth sound. The Morpheus can also blend the sound from your normal tuning to an Octave down at the same time, a bit like an Octaver.

The closest I've seen that can do weird tunings was that Axcent Tuning System that required some heavy modding of your guitar but could do about any open or drop tuning with the click of a button. Jimmy Page used one in the 90s and early 2000s on a Gold Top Les Paul, as well as that O2 Arena show with most of Zeppelin some years back.

That's where the guitar synth is cool. A separate feed from each string. So Drop D, 12 string, you name it.

I tried the detune function to Eb with my guitar synth. Worked fine to me. I wouldn't like the soggy feel of down tune. Would need heavy duty strings which means a dedicated guitar.
I think I did with my G3 pedal in the loop amd it seemed fine too. For the odd time I woild ever have to do it? Totally works.
I guess where I've used 10-52s for a while now, I never noticed much heavy looseness when detuning. I usually never go beyond 1-1/2 steps or C#/Dd tuning anyways and with that gauge, it's about the same as standard feeling with 9s I guess.

Interesting observations.

Do you notice any sort of an artificial nature to the sound?

Thanks!
