Don’t try this at home...

So I watched this You Tube video the other day showing a guy cooking eggs in the shell on the BBQ. Cook them about 15 minutes then put them in an ice bath for a minute which makes them easy to peel. Claims they taste better than regular hard boiled.

We remodeled the kitchen 3 years ago and bought this fancy range with 6 burners and it had an option for either a griddle (which is what I wanted) or a grill which is what we got . I just knew a grill inside would, one, make a mess, and two, stink up the joint, and three, the briquettes would smell, well, like a BBQ. So we have not cooked anything on it in 3 years.

Hmmm, eggs, now that’s not messy, seems like a good Sunday morning adventure. So I fire the grill up (it’s electric) and waited until it’s smoking hot. I put 4 eggs on and tell Alexa to set a 15 minute timer. 15 minutes later I take one off, put it in the ice water and wait a minute; cracked it open and it’s barely a soft boiled one. Hmm, needs more time.

“Alexa, set a 10 minute timer”.

The blast radius of an exploding egg is about 8 feet :run: We had egg bits everywhere. Took about 30 minutes to clean up. Do not try this indoors:bash:

If you ever need to make a whole bunch of hardboiled eggs (egg salad or deviled eggs for a big picnic, etc.) you can do them right on the racks in your oven.
It's best to put them in muffin tins if you have them (mini size is ok) or put a layer of foil underneath - just in case. They won't explode but one or two might crack.
325°-350° for 30 min depending on your oven and the size of the eggs, then into ice water for 10 minutes to loosen the shells.
Many caterers do it this way.

it can be fun--- if you have budgeted for a NEW microwave that week ..........or if its someone you dont LIKES microwave---- like an ex employer......spouse.........etc.
insert eggs turn time on high for 20 minutes ...........and leave..............
oh the FUN!
A radio station did the egg in the microwave several years ago. Based on their on air reaction, I’m pretty sure they wet themselves when it exploded.

Sad thing though...We all came in wearing the ole special drawers and we will be wearing them on our way out :pound-hand:
Ooooooooo how the cycle of life repeats:pound-hand:

Just a matter of timeo_O

I saw that coming as soon as you said "Eggs" and "Grill"

I once put a can of Bean with Bacon soup in the fire when were camping. Things were going good until we heard this sound like incoming artillery...

...we all jumped out of our sleeping bags and ran. Just in time too as the can exploded and coals plus soup flew everywhere! It was a good laugh and
a reminder to always add an air hole for pressure to escape...
