DOC’s Studio Build…

Nice
Sounds like you are going to do what I'd like to do in my room. I've looked into acoustic insulation to reinsulate with and then the acoustic mat. My space isn't part of my house and I live in the country so it's not big priority right now. But I do want to hold the sound from getting to the house. My family says the cant hardly hear us anyhow.

Heres a link to what I've looked at

Here's one that I was looking at.

A lot of times if you have it shiped to your buisness/work will cut a bunch of cost on the shipping. A lot of times that's what I will do, this keeps a guitar or amp from being shipped and left at my front door.

I retired in January, so no work address:io:. But I’m going to look locally to see if any places stocks it. I gotta believe somewhere in So CA carries something like this. But I’ll have to wait a month as the governo told us all to stay home for a month. Good thing I have 100 2x4s on hand to start building other areas:dance:

Hung the mirror ball in the studio for safe keeping. Mounted the TV in the shop (there’s an outlet behind it but not wired yet). I use a Roku to stream music and Spectrum TV. Built another wall outside of the studio.

The 8ft 2x4 shows the depth the guitar case storage room will be. I’ll use 4x6s for the floor with 3/4” plywood. All the room walls and ceiling will be insulated and finished in drywall.

This pic shows the 2x6 house wall on the foundation. I’m stuffing those walls with Rockwool safe and sound (thanks TB Don for the suggestion). There will then be an air gapped 2x4 wall on 24” centers and stuffed with the highest R value insulation I can get in there. The walls and ceiling will be finished in 2 layers of 5/8 drywall separated with green glue between the layers.

Hey @Don O
Considering the challenging times we are currently going through, what's the scene like as far as having other people like a construction crew working with you?

Getting the floor done was the last time I used a local contractor before the stay home order. I’m doing everything else myself except for having a stairway punched down from the rear of the garage to that concrete area just outside the studio. I’m gonna wait a few weeks before deciding when to do that. I’ll be doing all the framing, insulation, electrical, duct work, ceilings and floors. I hate doing drywall, so I’ll farm that out down stream and I’ll need a plumber to re-route some gas lines. The final install will be a HVAC guy to install a furnace and A/C system for this floor. This stay at home issue is quite enjoyable :rolf:
