DAW / Interface / Plugins and other Magic

I managed to register the Volt. I started to get some of the software but it looks like I might have missed all the good stuff since they took 4 days off before shipping.
It works very well. Just did a short guitar recording but in Abelton live. I just don't like that software.

I updated Reaper , that might end up being the go to because I don't want to change settings on Mixcraft 9. That is set up for the Hx Stomp.

I might get time tomorrow.

So, this morning I went ahead and changed the setting in Mixcraft 9 to use the Volt. It works, I have a Shur 100PT model I got from Plugin Aliance a while back. It sounds really good. The only thing that is off is my headphone monitor sounds like it's just the line signal before the amp. On play back it sounds excellent.

It seems the Volt will be better at Mic recording. I am having a little difficulty figuring out the guitar straight in to the DAW plugin Shur PT100. I do like the amp.

If I were to do a review I would give the Volt 476 about 7 or 8 on scale of 1-10.
It does what it should but to me where it falls short is in the control department.
The overall volume control had to be controlled in the DAW. The only control that did anything is the gain and headphone. That is disappointing.

The preamp/compressor are among the best in price but my HX Stomp does a lot more . It is a bit more expensive than the UA 476 but way more versatile.

Took a plunge finally, Kinda specialize in proper capture by getting the tone i want way before i hit record.

BUT, i leave everything in Reaper just in the lanes. Not bad but inconsistent & i do not like a lot of compression or effects that you can never cop again should you have to play your song live in a band.

So, after many hours of vids, just got Waves Abbey Road plug ins. Not a fan of sitting at the computer in the music process, much rather just jam. Have so much music made sure would like to level it all the same.

3 freakin hours , man the download fought me. Now have to transfer to offline computer i record on. Last Waves for me lol Toonntrack EZ drummer was 2 minutes lol
Holy Cap Canaveral! That's a log download. I get Waves stuff real quick. The "Install" (of plugins that are already on your computer in an all inclusive DLL - they are just given permission to be used) takes quite a while while they scan every plug you have in your system already to get any statistics they can get on you. It's funny because as I just said, there is no "install" at all, yet 3 minutes go by. LOL.

Probably not the best review since you're not getting the full benefits of what you have. Is it broke?? I have the Volt 1, and you should be able to control the input into the computer via the hardware. You should also have a volume for your headphones and a volume for the output to speakers, if you connect them to the interface.

Good question. No problem with the headphone volume control. That big knob on top does nothing. I mainly use headphones.
the output does work. It just went high volume and I had to turn it down on the DAW master but that was audio playback from the DAW.

Yea, the big button (dial) probably controls your output to external speakers, if they are hooked up.

It's not the best review for sure. Like I said it is a very good at Mic recording. The stomp has the opposite sort of control short comings. The stomp has a global volume knob. So when you turn the mix down to lower headphone it all goes down at once. But I make it work. That's why I started with " if I was going to do a review." I am going to try the mixer also as a interface. I need a external hard drive so I can unload stuff. My drive is full.

Cant even begin to explain what is coming out my monitors at this time..all these years of me recording its been basically capture & level, Now have a channel strip, holy smokes you can put things anywhere you want. Went right to the vocals & leads & got the clarity & separation needed.abby 1 o (2).jpg

I wasn't saying you were a "bad" reviewer at all. I was just saying you seemed to be reviewing it without full capacity of its offerings. That was it. :yesway:
