It's going really well. After doing some research I came across a cabinet builder talking about glue. Per his recommendation I am using Elmer's Glue All since I am in absolutely no hurry. It's a great consistency to work with. I can spread it with a disposable foam brush and it doesn't make a mess. Cleans up with water while still wet and I can adjust the fabric if I am quick enough. I'm waiting about an hour between each side using a shelf to evenly distribute the weight of a head to make sure I have a smooth surface. I just have to attach the bottom in about an hour before I start the front and back edges. I will overlap the tolex about an inch at the bottom corner and use a bead of super glue to make sure that the end is very well attached.

Use Tolex glue next time.

Not supposed to ship it below freezing. Be nice or don't play. I know exactly what tolex glue is and I specifically wanted to try something else.

First time I rewrapped a cabinet it was with the 3M 77 Spray Adhesive. Not. Good.
Then I tried Mojotones Tru Glu. It was a learning curve. I had to apply way more than I thought was necessary before it actually worked really well.

Coming along nicely it seems.

Yeah, it's going really well. The glue is really easy to work with and is making a very strong bond with the backing fabric to the wood. You do have to be a little creative while the glue sets. I'm using duct tape like a strap to hold it around round corners, a machinists straight edge (heavy) for inside 90s and just a shelf with some weight for flat surfaces. I'll easily be done tomorrow after I get another bottle of glue. Going to end up using about 30 oz for a 412 cab.

It's not perfect, but it's pretty nice for my first recovering. I added a set of removable casters, new corners, proper back screws with washers and T nuts for the speakers. Crate had most everything put together with the equivalent of deck screws.

I decided to keep this cab loaded with G12T-75s since my little DSL1HR and my 900 sound too dark with anything else I have.

Now I'm going to put casters on my pine 412. I'm getting too old to not have wheels on cabs.

It was pretty easy Mitch. I got the tolex from Mojotone. Speaker Builders Supply sells a 412 tolex kit that is really reasonable. I had to go with full 54 inch wide material since the Crate cab is just a little too deep for their 18 inch wide kit to fit properly.

Looks perfect to me, fantastic job you did.

I want to do same with my 4x12 swap grey to black to make it match the heads. Cab sounds great but hate that colour.

is it easy enough to do when somone never dine this type of task?

Ramo, this is the first time I've tolexed a cab. It's kind of like wrapping a present with vinyl and glue.
