Finally getting around to start the recovering of the BV412S.

Stripping the cab down and removing the old tolex .

The back panel pulled easily. I'm getting rid of the circuit board stereo input jack and have ordered a steel dual mono set up for daisy chaining.

That wasn't so bad. At least for a guy that's used to peeling tubulars off a race bicycle rim.

Even saved the original for a pattern. I better get it measured up and see what color the wife will let me order. She was an art major in the mid-eighties, so I'm guessing it will be black!

If anyone is curious, Crate Blue Voodoo cabs were most certainly void free plywood of some variety with an MDF back like a Marshall. I snatched this up for $40 and an old little pedal board. I had the G12T-75s laying around. Should be a pretty nice cab with all metal corners and handles for not much cash when I'm done. Better put wheels on it too. I'm old.

I'm astounded that Crate made cabinets out of plywood, instead of particle board.
I guess it's one of the few things they did right...
I suppose it's USA Crate from St. Louis MO.?

Don't tell me Celestion speakers came STOCK in that cabinet?
Now that would be difficult to believe.. however possible.

Yeah, I believe this thing is from the mid-nineties, so it is made in the USA. The speakers were crap. I threw them out without an audition.

They had two versions of the Blue Voodoo cabs: One with eminence, one with Vintage 30's. :D

Love Crate! Sleeper cabs that you can find for dirt cheap. GT cabs and the BV's

Looking good!

In an interesting twist I will be replacing the G12T-75s with Vintage 30s when this goes back together. I'm swapping 3 with another member and just need to come up with the fourth. I may buy one of those Peavey 112 cabs with the Vintage 30 and put the 75 in there. I don't have a 112. This will give me a 412 with Greenbacks, one with, Vintage 30s, one with a Greenback/Vintage 30 mix and one with G12T-75s. Now, what to do for my next trick?

More soon. I have casters and a bunch of new screws. The tolex shipped last Monday from NC and has just made it to Chicago. Stupid weather. I'm ready to rock this out.

We will be doing a speaker cone repair along with this. I'll have updates by the end of the week.
