Celebrating Father's Day

Well….. my dad was a man of few words. Why spew forth 100 words when two or three will work just fine. I got that DNA and it something ticks off Mrs. IbLive. I also have the same DNA that inherited his mechanical ability. He was a fixer. I’m a fixer. I was headed down the work path of being a mechanic. I would have been a good one. The way my dads brain and mine are wired is what would have allowed be to be good at pulling wrenches…. It’s also what allowed me to be pretty good working behind a parts counter.

Then Mom passed away Oct 2001. We moved 200 miles away a few months later chasing a job. Ultimately, Dad never really got over moms passing. And with me no longer living in the same town our relationship suffered. Some of it on him and some on me. By the time he passed a few years ago, it was basically non existent. I’ll regret not trying harder for what’s left of my time

That said. I am the man I am today…. Not from that many words he spoke or taught…. But thru his actions. He was a good man. Not perfect… and yes…. If you ask my wife she’ll suggest those imperfection that I inherited. His legacy for me is how I am as a husband and father. My mom was his queen. I learned how to treat woman in general and my lady in particular from watching how he was with mom. There was no one walking the planet that was more important to him than mom.

And the legacy is passed on. My boys witnessed how I am with their mom…. My queen. And guess what. They both got married and the tradition started with my dad continues.

Happy Father’s Day all the dads here. It’s an awesome job that I will forever cherish.

Lost my father to Alzheimer's many years ago. He loved camping with family. That is my mother and youngest sister on the right. On the left is my father’s sister. I think of him every day, wondering what he’d do in whatever situation I’m in. When my mother passed I found a box full of songs he’d written.

Happy Father's Day everyone!

My parents split when I was 4. ...

Dad had visitation and saw us pretty regularly,

Your experience is closer to my own.

I don’t know how visitation worked for you, but for me it was every two weeks. Every other weekend my father would pick us kids up on Friday evening and bring us back home on Sunday morning.

For me, it all started when I was three.

My dad is 84 and jad to go to longbterm care last year. Haven't seen him in 18 months. Demenyia starting to settle in but he's pretty good.
He is a retired pharmacist. Very quiet fellow. Him amd Mom have been married for 61 years. A pillar in the community, it is sad where he is now but he seems reasonably happy. He remembers long term stuff but forgets why he is in there so he always has hope.
A really good guy my dad.

I guess I am a dad to Spirit....

Hope all you dads had an enjoyable Father's Day!
Sat. we had my brother in law, his wife and kids, and my father in law and his wife at our house.
And both my kids were off work, as often either or both of them miss get togethers.
Very nice time chilling, eating, chatting.

Yesterday I did some yard work early on and finally got back to working on the cabs for 2 of my amp builds.
This is one of 2.

I'm not much of a carpenter, but once I get this glued up, sanded, roundover the corners, covered, and add hardware it will surely be at least "good enough".

Love the fingerjoints on the cab corners!
A+
That's quality woodworking. Something I've always wanted to attempt.

That Harbor Freight jig is mediocre at best; things move around a little when you tighten the cam arms.
I used it on 1 earlier cab. It's good enough for getting by with.

I only have the cheapy Ryobi table saw; might experiment with a sled jig and a few stacked 7 1/4" blades.

I dont plan on building many more amps or cabs, but..... I'd like to build a 1 watt 1959 Super Lead / Plexi circuit.
