Had all intentions of 2 cats picked out , well get to the shelter & here was cactus. She was in a fire that was on the news. had a litter of 4, 2 died in fire & 2 died in shelter. Not one person in 2 months even asked to visit or see the cat. She is home with me & is still freaked out. You can feel the trauma in her. Letting her be, she is hiding but will make sure she eats. A good sign..fresh poop on floor this morning..we will work on getting to ther liter box lol

I’ve got a similar rescue cat….she started out with a similar sort of shyness on arrival …but she attached to me pretty quickly. Now she’s my shadow when I’m in the house, and she sometimes watches me from a window when I’m out at the bbq/fire pit.
Her eyes appear different colors, depending on light or mood too…very much like your two pictures @BFT Gibson .

Oh wow, same eyes. Hoping she will attach like that. I can actually feel the trauma in her. 24 hours home now & still hiding since middle of the night.

If she’s anything like my girl, if she bonds to you, she will follow anywhere you let her. Mine, if she’s not on me, she’s usually nearby. Mine likes the high ground. She appreciates the cat towers and amp stacks around the house. The first cat tower I got helped bring her out of hiding when other people were around. Apparently, I qualify as a cat tower on occasion …

Food and car treats are a great “bribe” to break the trauma

That is how Maggie was that passed this week. Like a dog for years. Follow me everywhere & was a daily carnivore also.

Great name. What a little doll. So cute and such a great thing you've done. Mine is a rescue as well so kudos to that!

Give her time since I'm sure that was a major trauma. :(
Agree. Give her time. My eldest and daughter in law rescued a pup several years ago. She’d obviously suffered some abuse. Took some months…. But today this is one amazing dog. Stories I could tell on her…. But that’d be hijacking someone else’s thread.

Great work on the rescue buddy, we have a male in the same colors,,
He adopted us, and has had to fend off the other 3 we have,, but he is definitely part of the family now.. we call him Smokey.
I will try and get a pic of him.

It's natural for her to hide for a while, at first. When the environment doesn't seem so frightening, she'll begin exploring.
Likely in the middle of the night when nobody's around.

You can expect her to be shy for awhile. But not forever - hopefully not even very long, once she feels secure.
It can be some time before you get to know her personality, though.
