Cab Shenanigans

Already posted this on the MF, but though I'd share here if you're interested.
Got an AVT112 from GC a while back because it was big enough to go with my 4210 head conversion.
Couldn't find another soon enough for a matching pair, so I grabbed an AVT100 combo off the local CL.
While figuring out how to mod the combo, I wound up getting other cabs for the 4210, so I had this rig I never intended to have...
c00.jpgHabitual Reverb browsing and GAS forced me to buy an Origin50 head, so the cab mod project was back on track...
Here's a back pic of the combo - had to rip out the horizontal divider and fixed baffle.

The combo face frame had a double slant with a gradual taper up to a more drastic angle at the chasis.
Started by slicing off a uniform thickness of the existing face to re-attach and make a half slant cab.
c02.jpg
Squared up the cab and added some spacer wood to get back to the depth of the 112 cab.
c04.jpg
Chopped up some of the parts that were removed and reconstructed the face frame and extended the baffle.

More to come...

Test run with a speaker and put the O50H rig together.
c11.jpg
New back panel with a switching series jack.
Don't need it for the pair of 16 ohm Tone Tubby alnicos, but ready to go if I decide to swap out for some 8 ohm speakers.
c12.jpg
New reversed RI pinstripe and piping on the half slant.
c13.jpg
Set it all up and warmed up the tubes...

While I was doing grills and piping, I went ahead and did the 112 cab too.

Now for some tolex...

That Vintage 12 didn't come with that combo did it? That is one very awesome speaker for the Jubilees
Looks fantastic!! Wow!
No, the combo had an AVT100 Marshall branded Celestion.
I had that G12 Vintage in there to test it out (with the Haze15 that's sitting on top)
Just had that pic to show what I ripped out for the mods.

Kept the first run Vintage g12 & a first run t75 around just in case. Also have the Peavey 2x12 that came with china v30/t75. Workhorse cab massively unbalanced but great grab & go for Modern Marshall in the studio

Funny this thread came up just drug the AVT 4x12 into the LR & put the Origin 20 on top. Glad i did. People rag on those cabs but it is so focused & tight. Has Emi Swamp Things bottom & 5150 1200's on top. Compared it with all those 1960 cabs i had & kept that one,

Nice to see the AVT getting some love

No different than some CP Marshall cabs like the MG, MX & Origin lines, perhaps even better.
3/4" particle board, so not exactly void free Baltic birch, but plenty sturdy, and easy to work with for mods.

Fitz, nice work as always.
I think every one you do gets a little better.
I love that grill. Stuffs not getting cheaper.

What is the grill cloth again ?
I hate to just copy what you did, well I don't think I can because I don't have the expertise but I really like the cloth choice.

The grill cloth that Marshall uses on the Origin cabs (that they make...) is the back side of re-issue pinstripe.
Here's a side-by-side of some scraps.

And full-size comparison of the back side on my O20 cabs vs. the front side on the G215RCD cabs
