But low end cant sound good...............

I understand, Adrian. My "family" shots are hard too. My drums and Marshall 4x12 and Mesa Bass cabs are at my house, and my amps and 4 and 6 stringed instruments spend time either at my girlfriend's house or my dad's house.

Hoping to get my cabs and drums out of my house as soon as I get a few rooms finished renovating at my girlfriend's place.
(Theft protection from my A-hole neighbor's who robbed my house twice since 2010.)

ALL mine are here except the Rickenbastard which is at Drumoids house on extended vacation....and for a TUNE UP of the HORRIBLE hack job I did on the electrics.....solder is NOT MY FRIEND...

Its just getting them in one shot without a dog knocking them over or a goat attacking the Hartke.....or ----its a zoo man

THESE

are 120.00 and under ---- 95. actually for the black there--- AWESOME little guitars....play and sound excellent--- if you get a good one--- I have owned a couple and know folks that own them now---and I am certain they are the same guitar--- probably the same just different route programs on the CNC machine --- just slap a pickguard and little pups on the one ----big P90's on the other

it is possible to get a good guitar for cheap--- and it is possible for a cheap guitar to be good---

is EVERYONE a stellar out of the box WINNER--- nope--- but as we have seen niether is a1500.00 to 5,000.00 Gibson .........Id damn sure rather risk 95.00 to find a keeper than 5k.........but that just me

That sure is a nice black Epi with soap bar P90's in it. And for the price I would snag it. P-90 pick ups are very popular these days because of their classic rock sound. They are well sought after.

Really? Ive owned several that where quite good,

So have I; Epi have some very good low cost models. My main guitar for a couple of years was an Epi that cost about $200 - not bad at all for the money.

The one highlighted in my videos (the same one in the opening post) is dire, utter rubbish and a total waste of $99. At a minimum level I want the guitar to stay in tune and that means decent tuners, nut and bridge. The nut can be easily sorted out, but the bridge and tuners will cost money that in this case would be better spent on a different guitar.

Possibly---

BUt we all tend to change all the things you mentioned any way...and thanks to our sponsors here on TTR we can source affordable replacements for all those things---learn a little about guitar and still have a great functional guitar----under 150.00

Low end guitars in action ........
HEres one on LEtterman ---a Harmony Bobkat

Dont know if that sounds good or not ---but hey they where on Letterman....and she now has a couple "signature models to her credit --- so-- maybe?

THis Knopfler guy knows a thing or two about music.....here he is with an old Silvertone 1452

I do appreciate the postings of famous people playing epis and such, but in fact there's no need for that when you have in mind what I said myself above: Epis, Squiers, and such are NOT meant to be bad instruments! They are made with cheaper parts and labor, but they are made to be playable and lovable instruments.

Even Les Paul himself said at some point "epiphones are real les pauls".

Hell, I've gigged with an Epi Lp std with lots of LOVE!

You can get better gear for more money, so what?

Oh and the dude saying this is an owner of 2 GREAT SOUNDING AND PLAYING American guitars (plus one Brazilian made limited batch vintage oddball whateveryouwantittobe strat).

I'm not trying to compensate anything by saying that low end guitars are good enough to rock

Black, do you know I have a nice SG Classic w/ P90's?

Yes me little big buddy. I think I do remember your SG w/ P-90's. Is it black or cherry red...I forgot.:confused2: I bet it sounds sweet. Do you think of Pete Townshend "Live At Leeds" when you play your axe? That was a great album. I had it on cassette tape for many years.

"I said a young man,
aint't got nothin' in the world these days"......

Live at Leeds ? YESSSSsssssssssssssssssss!!
Its in my car now.

I own a black 2006 Epiphone LP Standard that came with an SKB hardshell case for about $500 at the pawn shop. What a great deal that was because the guitar plays excellent. I replaced the cheap plastic nut with a graphite nut that was about 1 -2 mm longer so I had to file and sand both ends so the nut fits snug. I noticed my string spacing at the nut is more spread out and better for chording. I think it makes a world of difference and the guitar feels good in my hands. Epi's overall make pretty good guitars in my opinion.

I looked for a place to put this thought/question that was the topic of a thread in another guitar forum. The question was, HOW do people afford expensive guitars? The one answer I read was very surprising. I thought even our own Ferenghi king would appreciate this guy's acumen.

Before I post it, I will repost one thing Sergio said above: "

Now for the surprise on how someone might afford expensive guitars.

I guess you could say I was a smart investor before I even knew it. When I was a child I collected comic books, and yet still today I collect comic books. Well most of those comics that I took care of for so many years(45) to be exact are worth quite a bit of money. I dont like to sell comic books, but when I need something important or pay for something necessary I do sell. I live in California and it's very expensive here, but I was able to buy a house with a comic book, sold My 1940 Batman #1 20 years ago for 230,000.00. My daughter wants to get married on the Queen Mary ship, and a honeymoon in Costa Rica. I sold a 1962 Incredible Hulk #1 for 45,000.00 . So I've been very lucky in my collecting hobby, so buying a nice guitar would be very easy. However I prefer to buy great playable guitars like an Epiphone Les Paul over a museum piece Gibson. I do own a Gibson Custom , but my Epiphone Les Paul still plays better.
