Best production period for Gibson ever????

Never owned a Norlin era guitar. My 68 SG had the wide flat frets. I guess they were okay. Then I skipped to my 88 LP standard. I still miss that one. Had the chainsaw case with that one. Now I have an 01, 13 and 17 LP. Quality wise I would say they are all pretty equal and on par with the 1988. I love the 60's necks and really like the asymmetrical necks on my 17 LP and 18 SG. Very fast and comfortable.

I gravitate to odd ball Norlin era Geetars----

love em-- actually -- the "haters" and nay sayers-- can well -- go spend 6 grand..
hidden gems are these Norlins -- please keep proliferating the "negatives" and keep driving down the values. ;)
dont have NEAR as many as I would like

I'd put the Norlin Les Pauls up against any Custom Shop LP that ever shipped out of Nashville. The CS SG's are flippin' amazing though and I think are the match of any guitars that Gibson has built in any era.

That's because you are an odd ball...

My old boss has a Norlin era Les Paul Custom and it's a great playing and sounding guitar, but at 12 pounds I just can't lift it!

$300, $1000, $6000, I've played great guitars and crap guitars at all those price points. Don't hate on a guitar because it costs 6 Grand...

I had a '77 Custom once that was over 12, but that thing was the sonic equivalent of Thor's Hammer. Never should have let it go.

I'll take two 6 pound guitars thanks...my neck just won't do 12 pounds even sitting down. And I don't like playing without a strap.

I really dig that Les Paul of yours and would love to give it a run. I think it's what Les was really looking for in a guitar.

Yep...it’s all about conditioning, and the desire to see the joy that can be had in wielding one of these unique beasts.
I really dig my heavyweights...not for the weight...they happen to be otherwise ergonomically pleasing, and the ones that I have at hand happen to sound pretty darned good too.
That said, I do have some featherweights that give them a run...

wanna see a strap button ..................
THIS IS A STRAP BUTTON !

norlin era Gibbo "posi-lock" ............no BEFORE THE HATERS HATE its not going to allow you to do this

but it does hold up well......I guess.....whats a strap again?

You better hope you never have to solder in there! You'll blow a gasket!
also funny thing unlike NEWER models Ive owned/own ............it WORKS even thought its 50 years old (yep 1970 construction 1971 release) and .....it WORKS
and again -- my bassis of NORLIN ROCKS
as does my SONEX (hated by the Gibson faithful....junk crap low end bolt neck-- just a few comments) ---all bone stock -- WORKS tunes intonates....all wiring, pups.....works
as does the G3 bass..........works all original...... works--

Ive not had the same experience with numerous newer Gibbos .........but hey NORLIN era stuffs CRAP!!!-- dont buy it (please) leave it all for ME!!!!! ;)
