I have found it very helpful with recording. At this point I have been recording a guitar riff, coming up with a tolerable bass drum and tom track that fits. Record a bass line and then go back and redo the guitar track so it is actually in proper tempo.

I actually like using a bass as a writing aid. Sometimes it's easier to come up with a riff on a bass than it is on a guitar. Maybe it's the simplicity of only thinking about four strings.

One lesson I've learned is there is a huge difference between a bass playing guitarist and a true bass player.

I, unfortunately am a guitarist posing with a bass lol. But I'm working on it.

I play bass and keys, but im no virtuoso. I rehearse my parts and i can fill in where needed....
