As some people might remember I was on a quest to bring my recordings some decent bass sound.

After posting, and listening to my bro.s recommendations, bought a cheapy bass, and started my bass playing journey.

All going well, learning the basics, doin my thing.

Then, a couple of weeks ago my brother @eSGEe posts a tune called Beastly, by Vulfpeck. Thanks a whole lot man. I've been a little obsessed, talk about your ear worms!

Well, it's a great tune, with an awesome bass line and this morning I finally figured out most of the tune. What a blast, at least he didn't post Stanley Clarke, or that dude from Tower of Power lol.

Thanks for the inspiration, and keep posting that funky stuff. That tune is so funky, had to wash the funk off after playing it.

Don't know why I thought it necessary to post this, just was hoping he infected others as well, Beastly is the Coronavirus for the ear.

Have a great day y'all.

as an "aside" -- they (Vulfpeck) were formed at the University of MICHIGAN (as an Ohio State type Michigan is my SWORN ENEMY) however----

the skill and FUNK wore me down ---(and lets be honest the majority of their tone--- is Joe Dart) bringing the BASS BACK to the fore ground of funk baby

1. -- Your welcome
2. the entire Vulfpeck group has more FUNK than any bunch of pasty white guys should be allowed by nature---
3. for those uninitiated.......

and another funky little tune.................................

Just my opinion.... a lot of what makes that track hot, is the keyboard comping. NOT overplaying definitely serving the song.

Yes, did a little research after hearing the track, they just went and took the baddest m.fers they could find.

Kinda of amazing that track was the first time they played through that song.

As Miles used to say "bad M.F.ers

A: Did you guys see the COWBELLS in the first video?
B: I need to check out more videos like this.
C: I never even thought about a bass until coming here.

Damn you Adrian.

I have found it very helpful with recording. At this point I have been recording a guitar riff, coming up with a tolerable bass drum and tom track that fits. Record a bass line and then go back and redo the guitar track so it is actually in proper tempo.

Don't laugh....

Have a listen to Belinda Carlisle's "Heaven IsA Place On Earth."

One of the best, most challenging bass lines I've ever played...

Oh not laughing over here.
One lesson I've learned is there is a huge difference between a bass playing guitarist and a true bass player.

I, unfortunately am a guitarist posing with a bass lol. But I'm working on it.
